Journal ArticleDOI

Antiulcer and gastroprotective effects of quercetin: a gross and histologic study.

TL;DR: The histomorphometric evaluation of the gastric damage confirmed a significant increase in mucus production accompanied by a parallel reduction of gastric lesions with the highest dose of quercetin tested, which was most effective in necrosis prevention.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quercetin and naringenin; effects on ulcer formation and gastric secretion in rats

TL;DR: The antiulcerogenic effect of two flavonoids, quercetin and naringenin, in acute gastric ulcer (cold‐restraint and pylorus‐ligated) has been investigated and a significant difference was found in histamine secretion values.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ulcer-protecting effects of naringenin on gastric lesions induced by ethanol in rat: role of endogenous prostaglandins.

TL;DR: Oral pretreatment with the highest dose of naringenin, 240 min before absolute ethanol, was the most effective in ulcer prevention and Histomorphometric evaluation of the gastric damage confirmed a significant increase of mucus production accompanied by a parallel reduction of gastric lesion.
Journal ArticleDOI

Gastric anti-ulcer activity of silymarin, a lipoxygenase inhibitor, in rats.

TL;DR: Oral treatment with silymarin was found to be effective in the prevention of gastric ulceration induced by cold‐restraint stress, in rats, and results suggest that the anti‐ulcerogenic effect of sily marin could be related to its inhibitory mechanism of enzymatic peroxidation by the lipoxygenase pathway, avoiding leukotriene synthesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antiulcerogenicity of the flavonoid fraction from Bidens aurea: comparison with ranitidine and omeprazole.

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of the flavonoid fraction of Bidens aurea (Aiton) Sherff on gastric ulceration induced by restraint and cold were studied in rats.
