A literature review about recommender systems in the television domain was performed.Recommender systems were categorized according to seven research questions (RQs).282 relevant research papers were collected between 2003 and 2015 (until May) using a research methodology.Preliminary findings about the research papers were presented.We presented and discussed the results of this literature review according to RQs. Recommender Systems (RSs) are software tools and techniques providing suggestions of relevant items to users. These systems have received increasing attention from both academy and industry since the 1990s, due to a variety of practical applications as well as complex problems to solve. Since then, the number of research papers published has increased significantly in many application domains (books, documents, images, movies, music, shopping, TV programs, and others). One of these domains has our attention in this paper due to the massive proliferation of televisions (TVs) with computational and network capabilities and due to the large amount of TV content and TV-related content available on the Web. With the evolution of TVs and RSs, the diversity of recommender systems for TV has increased substantially. In this direction, it is worth mentioning that we consider "recommender systems for TV" as those that make recommendations of both TV-content and any content related to TV. Due to this diversity, more investigation is necessary because research on recommender systems for TV domain is still broader and less mature than in other research areas. Thus, this literature review (LR) seeks to classify, synthesize, and present studies according to different perspectives of RSs in the television domain. For that, we initially identified, from the scientific literature, 282 relevant papers published from 2003 to May, 2015. The papers were then categorized and discussed according to different research and development perspectives: recommended item types, approaches, algorithms, architectural models, output devices, user profiling and evaluation. The obtained results can be useful to reveal trends and opportunities for both researchers and practitioners in the area.

A literature review of recommender systems in the television domain

Internet of Things (IoT) ideates smart and inter-connected things capable of sharing their perceptions through the Internet. These devices are different from conventional Internet-connected devices in the sense that these are able to perform skill-full things on their own with minimal or no human interaction. Unfortunately, with the advent of amalgamate technologies, security has become a major concern for IoT networks. Recent efforts include re-inventing cryptographic solutions through the use of light-weight operations. However, after witnessing the growth of quantum computers, it can be inferred that the cryptographic techniques based on mathematical problems are not reliable enough. Therefore, there is need to develop solutions that can easily resist the adversarial effects and are suitable for the post-quantum world. In this paper, we perform in-depth analysis over the role of post-quantum cryptographic techniques for securing IoT networks and also explore ongoing research efforts in the field. In addition, we discuss the open research challenges and future research directions in the field.

A comprehensive survey of prominent cryptographic aspects for securing communication in post-quantum IoT networks

Purpose: The current and on-going coronavirus (COVID-19) has disrupted many human lives all over the world and seems very difficult to confront this global crisis as the infection is transmitted by physical contact As no vaccine or medical treatment made available till date, the only solution is to detect the COVID-19 cases, block the transmission, isolate the infected and protect the susceptible population In this scenario, the pervasive computing becomes essential, as it is environment-centric and data acquisition via smart devices provides better way for analysing diseases with various parameters Design/methodology/approach: For data collection, Infrared Thermometer, Hikvision’s Thermographic Camera and Acoustic device are deployed Data-imputation is carried out by principal component analysis A mathematical model susceptible, infected and recovered (SIR) is implemented for classifying COVID-19 cases The recurrent neural network (RNN) with long-term short memory is enacted to predict the COVID-19 disease Findings: Machine learning models are very efficient in predicting diseases In the proposed research work, besides contribution of smart devices, Artificial Intelligence detector is deployed to reduce false alarms A mathematical model SIR is integrated with machine learning techniques for better classification Implementation of RNN with Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) model furnishes better prediction holding the previous history Originality/value: The proposed research collected COVID −19 data using three types of sensors for temperature sensing and detecting the respiratory rate After pre-processing, 300 instances are taken for experimental results considering the demographic features: Sex, Patient Age, Temperature, Finding and Clinical Trials Classification is performed using SIR mode and finally predicted 188 confirmed cases using RNN with LSTM model © 2020, Emerald Publishing Limited

Pervasive computing in the context of COVID-19 prediction with AI-based algorithms

A comment infrastructure for managing co-authoring conflict resolutions is provided. During co-authoring, multiple users may make edits to a document at the same time or users may merge edits to a document. Embodiments determine if changes submitted by a user conflict with previously submitted changes. If a conflict is found, the conflicting change may be saved to the document as a comment, allowing for the user to choose when to resolve the conflict. The original content and the different co-authoring edits may be displayed side-by-side, allowing users to make an informed decision about a desired resolution of a conflict. Additional commenting functionalities may be provided for allowing users to leave comments, replies, or messages associated with a co-authoring conflict, providing communication and collaboration between users about a best way to resolve a co-authoring conflict.

Tracking co-authoring conflicts using document comments

With the advent in Internet and networking applications, security is a major concern in the current era of Information Technology. The huge amount of information exchanged over the Internet is vulnerable to security threats and attacks. Cryptography provides secure exchange of encrypted data by sharing a key. The major concern with this approach is data privacy as anybody with the key can access the data. Moreover, user loses control over data once it is uploaded to the cloud and must rely on cloud service provider. User must share a key with cloud service provider to perform any operations like searching, sorting, etc., or need to download and decrypt the data and then perform the operation. These approaches lead to privacy issue and repeated encryption decryption, even for small computation. These concerns are addressed by Homomorphic Encryption (HE), which enables the cloud service provider to carry out computations on ciphered data without decrypting it. With the advent of HE scheme, in 2009, the Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE) scheme was invented by C. Gentry, which allows any computational function to operate on encrypted data. But the practical implementation of FHE is still in research. This survey focuses on various traditional and modern cryptography techniques along with the different schemes of HE and FHE.

A Survey of Various Cryptographic Techniques: From Traditional Cryptography to Fully Homomorphic Encryption

Conflict Resolution in context-aware computing is getting more significant attention from researchers as ubiquitous computing environments take into account multiple users. For multi-user ubiquitous computing environments, conflicts among users' contexts need to be detected and resolved. For this, application developers or end-users specify conflicts situations, and the underlying ubiquitous computing middleware detects and resolve conflicts between applications when one of the conflict situations arises. In this paper, we propose Conflict manager which employs an array of Conflict Resolving Algorithms to resolve conflicts in Context-aware applications. Conflicts arise when multiple users try to access an application. In order to resolve conflicts among users, the Conflict resolver sums up preferences of users which collide with each other and recommends specific contents depending on different criteria's such as role of the user or the priority assigned with the user. This paper proposes various algorithms where in each algorithm tries to resolve the conflicts among the users considering issues such as starvation. To show the usefulness of the proposed conflict resolution method, we apply the proposed conflict resolution method to Context aware TV, a smart testbed. The conflict manager is built using an array of algorithms which work on the principles of preemption, non preemption, and uses methodologies like Role, Priority, Time slice based approaches. Thereby making the system to provide comprehensible and well suited solutions to cater the versatile needs of the family. The algorithms utilize various factors like priority, credits, age, and time in the above mentioned approaches.

Pervasive computing (PerC) systems are now being integrated into everyday life which is deployed in homes, offices, hospitals, universities. The sensor data can be integrated with different range of sources in pervasive systems which also offers an extensible, open and portfolio services. Due to remarkable progress in various domains such as smart phones, computing power, sensor, network and embedded devices, wireless communications which are combined with social networking paradigms, cloud computing and data mining techniques, that enabled the users for creating PerC systems with global accessibility. The major challenge of PerC is to provide the suitable consistent adaptive behaviors and context-aware systems in a vast amount of sensor data for these services which need to improve the accuracy, precision and dynamism. This research work provides an inclusive analysis of characteristics of data, then the complexities of the existing technique are reviewed which are mostly used in inferring situations from sensor data. The extensive experiments are carried out on benchmark dataset to validate the efficiency of existing techniques namely multi-context, mechanisms of user-side publish/subscribe by using the metrics such as accuracy, f-measure, precision, recall and communication overhead. Many open research opportunities are identified in this area by comparing and contrasting the existing techniques, which are discussed in this research work.

A survey on pervasive computing over context-aware system

As the data or information gets increased in various applications, it is very much essential to make the retrieval and modeling easier and simple. Number of modeling aspects already exists for this crisis. Yet, context awareness modeling plays a significant role in this. However, there requires some advancement in modeling system with the incorporation of advanced technologies. Hence, this survey intends to formulate a review on the context-aware modeling in two aspects: context data retrieval and context data modeling. Here, the literature analyses on diverse techniques associated with context awareness modeling. It reviews 60 research papers and states the significant analysis. Initially, the analysis depicts various applications that are contributed in different papers. Subsequently, the analysis also focuses on various features such as web application, time series model, intelligence models and performance measure. Moreover, this survey gives the detailed study regarding the chronological review and performance achievements in each contribution. Finally, it extends the various research issues, mainly the adoption of Evolutionary algorithms, which can be useful for the researchers to accomplish further research on context-aware system.
