Photochemical studies of molecules in the organized voids of microporous frameworks is an area of considerable research interest. In this study, we have examined the spectroscopy and photochemistry of trans-azobenzene introduced into the 8 A channels of an aluminophosphate framework, AlPO4-5. The acidity of aluminophosphates is considered to be very weak, based on their poor catalytic performance in transformations of organic compounds. However, we report that the Bronsted acidity of the AlPO4-5 is enough to protonate the azo groups in azobenzene. This leads to appearance of a band at 418 nm. Also, room temperature emission observed at 518 nm, an unusual spectroscopic feature for azobenzene, is due to the protonated form. Photolysis of the azobenzene/AlPO4-5 sample leads to the formation of benzo[c]cinnoline and benzidine. Es wurden die Verbindungen einiger Seltenerdelemente mit o-Hydroxybenzoylhydrazid der ZusammensetzungM(o-Bh)3·3H2O (M=La, CeIII und Y) hergestellt und durch analytische Daten, thermische Stabilitat und IR-Absorptionsspektren charakterisiert. Es wurde gezeigt, das in die Koordination auser dem phenolischen Hydroxyl der Carbonylsauerstoff und der in der primaren Aminogruppe befindliche Stickstoff eintritt.

4,4′-Diamino-diphenyl complexes with rare-earth(III) chlorides

Phenyl hydrazine (Ph) and benzidine (B) form complexes with thorium tetrachloride and uranyl sulphate of the general composition correspond to: [ThPh4]Cl4, [ThB2Cl2]Cl2, [UO2Ph]SO4 and [UO2B(THF)]SO4 (THF = tetrahydrofuran). The compounds were isolated, analysed and their molar conductivities were determined in dimethyl sulphoxide and dimethylformamide. The nature of coordination was discussed in the light of i.r. spectral assignments.

Phenylhydrazin (Ph) und Benzidin (B) bilden mit Thoriumtetrachlorid und Uranylsulfat Komplexe der Formeln [ThPh4]Cl4, [ThB2Cl2]Cl2, [UO2Ph]SO4 und [UO2B(THF)]SO4 (THF = Tetrahydrofuran). Die Verbindungen werden isoliert, analysiert und ihre Leitfahigkeiten in Dimethylsulfoxid und Dimethylformamid gemessen. Die Art der Koordination wird auf Grund der IR-Spektren diskutiert.
