Neutron scattering from low-frequency excitations in amorphous germanium

TL;DR: In this paper, the vibrations in amorphous germanium between 160 GHz and 4 THz have been studied by inelastic neutron scattering and the total vibrational density of states determined at 293 K is in good agreement with measured specific-heat data between 5 and 30 K.

Low frequency excitations in vitreous silica

TL;DR: In this article, a simple model was proposed to describe satisfactorily the measured data and the specific heat calculated from this density of states, in addition to the Debye term, is in good agreement with data in the literature.
