A full-order dynamic model of the pulse-width modulation (PWM) DC-to-DC Zeta converter in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) is presented in this paper. The derivation procedure is based on the small-signal PWM switch model in DCM used in conjunction with a PWM derived Zeta topology. The small-signal characteristics of the PWM Zeta converter in DCM obtained in a similar way as the small-signal properties of a linear amplifier are presented in a symbolic form. Such a model can be directly used in conjunction with a computational environment as Matlab, MathCAD and Mathematica to analyze the small-signal low-frequency dynamics of the PWM Zeta converter in DCM.

Modelling the PWM Zeta converter in discontinuous conduction mode

The principle of operation of the zeta converter is explained in the article. Small-signal and steady-state models of the converter are presented. The design formulas for the continuous conduction mode (CCM) are given together with some design examples and simulation results. The power factor and harmonic issues are also addressed.

Isolated zeta converter: principle of operation and design in continuous conduction mode

The paper presents a simplified steady-state analysis of the PWM Zeta converter for both continuous and discontinuous inductor current modes. Treating the converter with separate inductors as a particular case of the more general coupled-inductor case, the analysis results cover both the converter versions: coupled - and noncoupled inductor converter. The steady-state properties of converters are obtained as low-entropy expressions that comprise the essential elements necessary in the first stage of an application design that consists in topology comparison and/or in modelling process. The analysis is based on the equations written on the circuit for each time interval corresponding to the states of switches (transistor and diode) and the low-ripple capacitor voltage assumption, and the current and voltage waveforms of the converter.

A simplified steady-state analysis of the PWM Zeta converter

Due to the increasing demand of electricity and the limited conventional energy resources, Solar Photovoltaic energy becomes a favorable alternative as it is pollution free, freely available and has less maintenance cost. This paper presents basic steady state analysis of Zeta Converter by using State Space Averaging Method in continuous inductor current mode. The Zeta converter is a fourth order DC-DC converter which is capable of operating in Buck and Boost Mode. The Zeta Converter is cascaded between Solar Photovoltaic Panel and Load. The input voltage to Zeta converter is fed by a photovoltaic panel. The modeling of solar panel is done by considering the design equation of photon current and reverses saturation current. The objective of this paper is to analyze the performance of Zeta converter by a change in Temperature, Irradiance, Duty Cycle and Load Resistance. The effectiveness of model with the result is verified by using simulation done in MATLAB™ Simulink.

Analysis and study of Zeta converter fed by solar photovoltaic array

This paper continues the efforts on behaviorally modeling multiple-module inter-connected power supply systems and presents detailed derivations of the lower-frequency power transfer models for non-isolated Cuk, SEPIC and Zeta power stages, which will make up a complete family of basic converter models together with those in the previously published paper. The models play an important role in the simulation scheme proposed to predict and investigate large-signal subsystem interactions in a distributed power system.

Modeling Current-Mode-Controlled Power Stages for Simulating Multiple-Module Inter-Connected Power Supply Systems

This paper proposes a power factor correction using an intermediate zeta converter. Average current mode control technique is used in the closed loop, which will force the input source current to be almost in phase with the supply voltage. Further, this control loop also ensures that tight regulation of load voltage against line and load disturbances. Input current is almost smooth and exhibits low ripple current thus results in lower EMI. To verify the proposed control principle a zeta converter is designed to handle a power 250 W and the total system is simulated in PSIM environment. The power factor obtained through simulation is in compliance with the standards.
