A method, system, and computer-readable storage medium are disclosed for simulating paint behavior. In one embodiment, input representing a deposition of a first type of paint and a second type of paint on a canvas may be received. The first type of paint has a first set of fluid properties, and the second type of paint has a second set of fluid properties differing from the first set. In one embodiment, a motion of the first type of paint and the second type of paint on the canvas may be simulated dependent on the respective sets of fluid properties. The simulated motion of the second type of paint differs from the simulated motion of the first type of paint. An effect of the deposition of the paint may be determined dependent on the simulation. An image representing the effect of the deposition of the paint may be displayed.

Realistic real-time simulation of natural media paints

A method, system, and computer-readable storage medium are disclosed for simulating shallow viscoelastic flows. In one embodiment, input representing a deposition of a fluid in a shallow bed may be received. The fluid may have a set of fluid properties including a viscoelastic property. In one embodiment, a motion of the fluid in the shallow bed may be simulated. The motion may be simulated based on the set of fluid properties including the viscoelastic property. The simulation of the motion may comprise determining a viscoelastic force acting on the fluid based on the viscoelastic property.

Simulation of shallow viscoelastic flows

Sound propagation in shallow water is investigated using the Green's function and normal mode expansion techniques. The ideal fluid is bounded above by a pressure-release condition and below by a viscoelastic solid. A depth-dependent sound velocity is considered in the fluid column. Numerical results are evaluated using a digital computer to perform the calculations determined by the theory. The input parameters are chosen from the conditions described at an experimental site in the Baltic Sea. The output is in the form of a plot of transmission loss versus horizontal source-receiver separation distance. The computer simulation agrees qualitatively with the experimental results and demonstrates the importance of the bottom boundary composition on the attenuation of the sound. The authors' approach to the bottom boundary condition incorporates the concept of impedance and hence is very general in application.

Sound Propagation in a Shallow Water Region Overlying a Viscoelastic Halfspace

The mean-square wave response of a lightly damped thermo-viscoelastic medium to a special type of nonstationary random excitation is determined. The excitation function on the thermoviscoelastic medium is taken in the form of a product of a well defined, slowly varying envelope function, and a part which prescribes the statistical characteristics of the excitation. The rectangular step function is used for the envelope function, and noise with an exponentially decaying harmonic correlation function is used to prescribe the statistical property of the excitation. By taking into consideration the slow variation envelope function and the wave characteristics of the lightly damped thermoviscoelastic medium, the mean square response is evaluated by using F.F.T.

An Estimation of a Simulated Viscoelastic Subbottom Parameter Using Statistical Digital Signal Processing Methods

We construct a normal mode Green's function representing the steady-state acoustic response in a liquid layer overlying a viscoelastic multilayered half space. The acoustic responses are calculated for the cases where the subbottom is a single homogeneous layer or multilayered homogeneous subbottom consists of sediments such as course sand, fine sand, very fine sand, silty sand, sand silt clay, sandy-silt, clayey-silt, silty-clay.
