One embodiment describes a reflectarray antenna system. The system includes an antenna feed configured to at least one of transmit and receive a wireless signal occupying a frequency band. The system also includes a reflector comprising a reflectarray. The reflectarray includes a plurality of reflectarray elements, where each of the reflectarray elements includes a dipole element. The dipole element of at least a portion of the plurality of reflectarray elements comprises a crossed-dipole portion and a looped-dipole portion. The plurality of reflectarray elements can be configured to selectively phase-delay the wireless signal to provide the wireless signal as a coherent beam.

Reflectarray antenna system

An improved antenna system for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic signals comprising a mounting plate having a length and a longitudinal axis along the length. A plurality of staggered dipole radiating elements project outwardly from a surface of the mounting plate. Each of the radiating elements includes a balanced orthogonal pair of dipoles aligned at first and second predetermined angles with respect to the longitudinal axis, forming crossed dipole pairs. The mounting plate is attached to a longitudinally extending chassis. An unbalanced feed network is connected to the radiating elements. The feed network extends along the mounting plate and is spaced from the mounting plate by a plurality of clips. The feed network is disposed between the chassis and the mounting plate. A plurality of microstrip hooks are provided, each of the microstrip hooks being positioned adjacent to, and spaced from, each of the dipoles by one of the clips.

Dual polarized based station antenna

An improved antenna system for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic signals comprising a backplane having a length and a vertical axis along the length. A plurality of dipole radiating elements project outwardly from a surface of the backplane. Each of the elements includes a balanced orthogonal pair of dipoles aligned at first and second predetermined angles with respect to the vertical axis, forming crossed dipole pairs. An unbalanced feed network extends along the backplane and connected to the radiating elements. A printed circuit board balun is attached to each of the dipoles. The antenna can also include a parasitic element positioned along the vertical axis such that primary electromagnetic fields induce currents on the parasitic element, these induced currents re-radiate secondary electromagnetic fields which cancel portions of the primary electromagnetic fields, thereby improving isolation.

Base station antenna for dual polarization

A folded broadband antenna provides a symmetrical radiation pattern comparable to corresponding planar antennas (such as a planar spiral). The folded antenna can be integrated into a leading edge radome, eliminating the forward antenna cavity, and thereby, eliminating the internal wall reflections that cause radiation pattern distortion. A broadband antenna (61/62), such as an archimedean spiral, is folded at an apex area (64) that includes a fold-slot (66). The fold-slot enhances flexure, and allows a center-feed balun shielding tube (84) to extend into close proximity to the antenna aperture (61) for increased balun shielding.

Folded broadband antenna with a symmetrical pattern

A folded dipole antenna for transmitting and receiving electromagnetic signals is provided. The antenna includes a ground plane and a conductor extending adjacent the ground plane and spaced therefrom by a first dielectric. The conductor includes an open-ended transmission line stub, a radiator input section, at least one radiating section integrally formed with the radiator input section, and a feed section. The radiating section includes first and second ends, a fed dipole and a passive dipole. The fed dipole is connected to the radiator input section. The passive dipole is disposed in spaced relation to the fed dipole to form a gap. The passive dipole is shorted to the fed dipole at the first and second ends.

Folded dipole antenna

A method of making an antenna array and an antenna array apparatus of a low-cost wide angle retroreflector is provided in which a printed circuit board has a plurality of antenna elements etched on one side thereof and a ground plane on the other separated by dielectric material of a predetermined thickness. Baluns are attached through the printed circuit board to each antenna element and to the ground plane and transmission lines of equal length connect spaced pairs of antenna elements utilizing the balun and matching the transmission line to the antenna element.
