Performance of data acquisition system for monitoring PV system parameters

The use of a solar photovoltaic (PV) panel simulator can be a valued tool for the design and evaluation of the several components of a photovoltaic system. This simulator is based on power electronic converter controlled in such a way that will behave as a PV panel. Thus, in this paper a PV panel simulator based on a two quadrant DC/DC power converter is proposed. This topology will allow to achieve fast responses, like suddenly changes in the irradiation and temperature. To control the power converter it will be used a fast and robust sliding mode controller. Therefore, with the proposed system I–V curve simulation of a PV panel is obtained. Experimental results from a laboratory prototype are presented in order to confirm the theoretical operation.

Testing PV modules are one of the important procedures to ensure the conformity with the standards and quality of this equipment. To implement some of the PV modules tests a data acquisition system is required. This paper presents the design and implementation of a data acquisition system for photovoltaic systems. The developed system is characterized by a low-cost board based on a microcontroller. The description of the hardware as well an application to test its performance is presented. The developed system can be used for reading, storing and analyzing information from several photovoltaic systems. Experimental tests are presented to confirm the characteristics of the developed data acquisition board.

Design and Implementation of a Low-Cost Characterization System for Photovoltaic Solar Panels

This paper describes about the research and integration of IoT based solar photovoltaic panel health monitoring system. The proposed system comprises of four thermocouple K-Type sensors each one is connected to adafruit MAX3l855 thermocouple amplifer, one INA2l9 adafruitvoltage/current sensor and Raspberry Pi Zero Wireless. The thermocouple sensors each one is connected to adafruit MAX3l855 thermocouple amplifer are installed at the back on the solar photovoltaic panel at measured distance between the sensors to sense the solar photovoltaic panel's temperature. The one INA2l9 ada fruit voltage/current sensor is connected at the positive output wire of solar photovoltaic panel to sense and measure the amount of voltage/current produced. The sensed and measured values at the thermocouple sensors and voltage/current sensor are recorded into the Raspberry Pi Zero Wireless temporary storage. The recorded data in the Raspberry Pi Zero Wireless is then pushed into cloud system to ease the solar photovoltaic panel health monitoring and analysis via the website. This paper will explain the overall research and integration output of the proposed project and validate the recorded results based on the developed methodology.

Research and integration of IoT based solar photovoltaic panel health monitoring system

In the past years, strong changes of power network architectures and operation have led to make use of huge quantities of instrumentation, spread around the grid. In fact, there is a strong need to perform very accurate measurements of electrical quantities in many nodes of the network, mainly due to the strong penetration of distributed generation. Recently, the main Italian utility has also asked for such kind of instrumentation. Its main feature must be to perform accurate measurements in all actual conditions. Such conditions include the instrumentation operation during the off-nominal condition of the network. To this purpose, in this paper, a low-cost acquisition system (AS) developed by the authors is recalled. Then, a full comparison with off-the-shelf products during ideal or not power source is provided. The obtained results highlight the potentialities of the developed system for its implementation in both laboratory or medium-/low-voltage (MV/LV) networks.
