Journal ArticleDOI

Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) infection following intravesical BCG administration as adjunctive therapy for bladder cancer: incidence, risk factors, and outcome in a single-institution series and review of the literature.

TL;DR: In the absence of an apparent predictor of the development of disseminated BCG infection after intravesical therapy, and considering the protean variety of clinical manifestations, it is essential to keep a high index of suspicion to initiate adequate therapy promptly and to evaluate carefully the risk-benefit balance of resuming intravesicals BCG immunotherapy.
Journal ArticleDOI

Clinical significance of donor-unrecognized bacteremia in the outcome of solid-organ transplant recipients.

TL;DR: Unrecognized bacteremia in the donor does not have a negative clinical impact on the outcome of organ transplant recipients and there were no documented instances of transmission of the isolated bacteria from the donor to the recipient.
Journal ArticleDOI

Incidence, clinical characteristics and risk factors of late infection in solid organ transplant recipients: data from the RESITRA study group.

TL;DR: Severe LI occurs in a subgroup of high‐risk SOT recipients who deserve a more careful follow-up and could benefit from prolonged prophylactic measures similar to that performed in the early period after transplantation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Systematic screening and treatment of asymptomatic bacteriuria in renal transplant recipients

TL;DR: No differences in renal function prognosis between patients who do not develop asymptomatic bacteriuria and those uncovered by systematic screening and who received treatment following kidney transplantation are found.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aspergillus tracheobronchitis: report of 8 cases and review of the literature.

TL;DR: The pooled analysis of the literature shows that AT remains a rare opportunistic infection with a nonspecific presentation and a variable course depending on the nature of the predisposing factor.
