Microstrip Antennas The Analysis And Design Of Microstrip Antennas And Arrays

The simultaneous improvement in radiation and scattering performance of an antenna is normally considered as contradictory. In this paper, wideband gain enhancement and radar cross section (RCS) reduction of Fabry–Perot (FP) resonator antenna are both achieved by using chessboard arranged metamaterial superstrate (CAMS). The CAMS is formed by two kinds of frequency-selective surfaces. The upper surface of CAMS is designed to reduce RCS based on the phase cancellation principle, and the bottom surface is used to enhance antenna gain on the basis of FP resonator cavity theory. Both simulation and measured results indicate that compared with primary antenna, the gain of the proposed FP resonator antenna is enhanced by 4.9 dB at 10.8 GHz and the 3 dB gain bandwidth is from 9.4 to 11.1 GHz (16.58%). Meanwhile, the RCS of the proposed FP resonator antenna is reduced from 8 to 18 GHz, with peak reduction of 39.4 dB. The 10 dB RCS reduction is obtained almost from 9.6 to 16.9 GHz (55.09%) for arbitrary polarizations. Moreover, the in-band RCS is greatly reduced, owing to the combined effect of CAMS and FP resonator cavity.

The process of ensuring the security of monitored objects and material goods requires access to the information from sensors located in different points of monitoring and data acquisition systems. Therefore, they are becoming widely used in the transport services where they are needed for the administration of car fleet or the visualization of selected functions of transport processes. In each of these applications, the reliability and quality of the processes of supervision and monitoring is an important issue. Unfortunately, transmission of data from multiple video sensors may lead to degradation of video quality and reliability of identification. The paper presents a study of selected QoS (Quality of Services) supporting mechanisms and components elaborated for provision of reliable video monitoring services. The results of research have been presented as well which show the efficiency of the developed mechanisms in the process of reliable identification of objects in the transport system.

Multiband, frequency reconfigurable, and metamaterial antennas design techniques: Present and future research directions

Communication systems have been driven towards the fifth generation (5G) due to the demands of compact, high speed, and large bandwidth systems. These types of radio communication systems require new and more efficient antenna designs. This article presents a new design solution of a broadband microstrip antenna intended for use in 5G systems. The proposed antenna has a central operating frequency of 28 GHz and can be used in the LMDS (local multipoint distribution service) frequency band. The dimensions of the antenna and its parameters have been calculated, simulated, and optimized using the FEKO software. The antenna has a compact structure with dimensions (6.2 × 8.4 × 1.57) mm. Rogers RT Duroid 5880 material was used as a substrate for the antenna construction, which has a dielectric coefficient of 2.2 and a thickness of 1.57 mm. The antenna described in the article is characterized by a low reflection coefficient of −22.51 dB, a high energy gain value of 3.6 dBi, a wide operating band of 5.57 GHz (19.89%), and high energy efficiency.

Broadband Microstrip Antenna for 5G Wireless Systems Operating at 28 GHz

The article concerns the issue of narrow-banding of microstrip antennas. In the article methods of increasing operation bandwidth of microstrip antennas have been presented and examples of the structure of microstrip antennas with signiflcant working band have been shown. Results obtained during simulation and design of antennas have been conflrmed through the measuring way.

Wideband Microstrip Antenna

The paper describes problems related to antenna technology. The paper shows the construction of difierent microstrip antennas on a dielectric substrate operating on 1.8GHz. Microstrip antennas in antenna technology appeared relatively late, but in recent years has been a very large development of the design of these antennas and the huge interest in their capabilities. The article presents four models of single-layer microstrip antenna operating on the same 1.8GHz frequency. Each of antennas was feed in other ways. For each of the antenna models designer set parameters such as VSWR, input resistance, input reactance and radiation pattern. Antenna model that characterized the best parameters was constructed. The article presents the results of measurements of the antenna built in the anechoic chamber. The results were compared with those obtained in simulation using CST software. Also presents the detailed design of the antenna, which has been built. The article also analyzes the results of computer simulations and measurements, thereby demonstrating the advantages and disadvantages of microstrip antennas with difierent feeding. The microstrip antennas have been one of the most innovative flelds of antenna techniques for the last flfteen years. In high-performance spacecraft, aircraft, missile and satellite applications, where size, weight, cost, performance, ease of installation, and aerodynamic proflle are constraints, low proflle antennas may be required. Presently, there are many other government and commercial applications, such as mobile radio and wireless communications that have similar speciflcations. To meet these requirements, microstrip antennas can be used. These antennas are low-proflle, con- formable to planar and non-planar surfaces, simple and inexpensive to manufacture using modern printed circuit technology, mechanically robust when mounted on rigid surfaces, compatible with MMIC designs, and when particular patch shape and mode are selected they are very versatile in terms of resonant frequency, polarization, pattern, and impedance. In addition, by adding loads between the patch and the ground plane, such as pins and varactor diodes, adaptive elements with variable resonant frequency, impedance, polarization, and pattern can be adjusted (1). Radiating patch may be square, rectangular, circular, elliptical, triangular, and any other conflguration. In this work, rectangular microstrip antennas are the under consideration. Millimeter wave printed antennas can take on many forms, including microstrip patch elements and a variety of proximity coupled printed radiators. The microstripline-fed printed slot and the aperture coupled patch are examples of the latter type and may be useful in certain planar array applications.

Analysis Difierent Methods of Microstrip Antennas Feeding for Their Electrical Parameters

In the article research methodology and measuring position for determining at- tenuation of materials used for building structures have been described. The discussed research methodology is based on microwave measuring set on the basis of coaxial line guaranteeing large bandwidth of realized measurements. In the article selected samples of materials used for build- ing structures have been characterized as well as attenuation results of those materials have been presented. Attenuation of walls, ceilings or other building barriers depends | among other things | on per- mittivity of material the wall is made of, frequency of incident radiation and wall thickness. In order to determine attenuation of electromagnetic waves by wall, each wall should be measured individu- ally to deflne what level of electromagnetic fleld intensity is attenuated by such a barrier. In order to determine attenuation of materials used for building structures it is necessary to perform ana- lytical calculations of electric fleld attenuation or make a direct measurement on a natural sample of a particular material. For analytical calculation of electromagnetic fleld attenuation by shielding material it is necessary to determine electric and magnetic values of material a particular structural material is made of. Parameters which deflne the above mentioned properties are respectively per- mittivity " and magnetic permeability " of tested material. Due to the fact that building materials, particularly those based on natural raw materials(concrete, brick, plaster), are characterized by sel- dom repeatable composition, the only method of estimating their electric and magnetic properties is conducting laboratory measurements with the use of natural samples (3,4,7,8,10{12,14). 2. MICROWAVE MEASURING SET FOR ATTENUATION TESTS BASED ON COAXIAL LINE For conducting attenuation tests of materials used for building structures a microwave measuring set has been designed. With the use of the above mentioned set we can make measurement and determine values of combined coe-cients of dispersion matrices which next can be used for calcula- tion of attenuation coe-cients and absorption of particular shielding material. The measuring set in current conflguration makes measurements within the frequency range from 50MHz to 6GHz possible. Band limitations for this set are caused by the set structure on the basis of coaxial line, possessed measuring equipment and measuring software (2,5,6,9,13).

Attenuation Measurements of Materials Used in Construction of Buildings

The present paper described a method of analysis that can be applied to these geometries, as well as related configurations. The paper presents a model of the antenna on which the simulation was conducted on the impact parameter on bandwidth. The influence of the changes of the value of these parameters of individual layers on the bandwidth was talked over. Paper shows the analysis of multilayer microstrip antennas process is very complex and time consuming and compare between calculation and measurements. One of the most important parameters which have been calculated is the bandwidth. The paper describes a clear advantage of multilayer antennas over monolayer ones, where the bandwidth is significantly narrower.
