Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and characterization of potential probiotic bacteria from pustulose ark (Anadara tuberculosa) suitable for shrimp farming
Ana Claudia Sánchez-Ortiz,Antonio Luna-González,Ángel I. Campa-Córdova,Ruth Escamilla-Montes,María del Carmen Flores-Miranda,José M. Mazón-Suástegui +5 more
TL;DR: Homogenates of the gastrointestinal tract from adult mangrove cockle, Anadara tuberculosa, were obtained and had a beneficial effect on the growth and immune response of L. vannamei, so they have potential use as probiotics in aquaculture of marine shellfish.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and characterization of infectious Vibrio parahaemolyticus, the causative agent of AHPND, from the whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei)
Patricia López-León,Antonio Luna-González,Ruth Escamilla-Montes,María del Carmen Flores-Miranda,Jesús A. Fierro-Coronado,Píndaro Álvarez-Ruiz,Genaro Diarte-Plata +6 more
TL;DR: Results showed that smaller shrimp are less resistant to V. parahaemolyticus infection, but differences in virulence were found among them perhaps due to α-hemolysis and differences in biofilm formation and hydrophobicity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Efecto de la inulina y del ácido fúlvico en la supervivencia, crecimiento, sistema inmune y prevalencia de WSSV en Litopenaeus vannamei
Anayeli Gutiérrez-Dagnino,Antonio Luna-González,Jesús A. Fierro-Coronado,Píndaro Álvarez-Ruiz,María del Carmen Flores-Miranda,Saraí Miranda-Saucedo,Violeta Medina-Beltrán,Ruth Escamilla-Montes +7 more
TL;DR: No se observo efecto de los aditivos en los efectores del sistema inmune estudiados a nivel bioquimico pero si modularon the expresion of algunos genes relacionados with el sistem inmunes en L. vannamei.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of medicinal plants on the survival of white shrimp (Penaeus vannamei) challenged with WSSV and Vibrio parahaemolyticus
Jesús A. Fierro-Coronado,Jesús A. Fierro-Coronado,Antonio Luna-González,Carlos Cáceres-Martínez,Cesar A. Ruiz-Verdugo,Ruth Escamilla-Montes,Genaro Diarte-Plata,María del Carmen Flores-Miranda,Píndaro Álvarez-Ruiz,Viridiana Peraza-Gómez +9 more
TL;DR: PP protects shrimp against WSSV and V. parahaemolyticus, and further research about the effect of PP is necessary for commercial shrimp farms.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of bacilli, molasses, and reducing feeding rate on biofloc formation, growth, and gene expression in Litopenaeus vannamei cultured with zero water exchange
Antonio Luna-González,José Ávila-Leal,Jesús A. Fierro-Coronado,Píndaro Álvarez-Ruiz,Héctor M. Esparza-Leal,Ruth Escamilla-Montes,María del Carmen Flores-Miranda,Jorge Montiel-Montoya,Ely S. López-Álvarez +8 more
TL;DR: Reductions in feeding rate and molasses can help to maintain water quality and lower costs in intensive shrimp cultures with bioflocs and bacilli.
