Journal ArticleDOI
Intermediate metabolism in association with the amino acid profile during the third trimester of normal pregnancy and diet-controlled gestational diabetes
Kalliopi I. Pappa,Kalliopi I. Pappa,George Vlachos,Marianna Theodora,Maria Roubelaki,Konstantina Angelidou,Aris Antsaklis +6 more
TL;DR: In gestational diabetes, ketogenic amino acids and the branched-chain amino acid isoleucine are released at low rates from skeletal muscle and are mostly catabolized in the liver rather than in peripheral tissues, in contrast, in normal pregnancy proteinolysis is enhanced, and the ketogenic acids along with brancheric amino acids are catabolization in both the liver and peripheral tissues.
Journal ArticleDOI
MRI prognosticators for adverse maternal and neonatal clinical outcome in patients at high risk for placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders.
Charis Bourgioti,Konstantina Zafeiropoulou,Stavros Fotopoulos,Maria Evangelia Nikolaidou,Marianna Theodora,George Daskalakis,Chara Tzavara,Konstantinos Chatoupis,Evangelia Panourgias,Aristeidis Antoniou,Anastasia E. Konstantinidou,Lia A. Moulopoulos +11 more
TL;DR: Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders may be associated with significant mortality and morbidity for both mother and fetus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessment of Uterocervical Angle Width as a Predictive Factor of Preterm Birth: A Systematic Review of the Literature.
George Daskalakis,Marianna Theodora,Panagiotis Antsaklis,Michael Sindos,Themistoklis Grigoriadis,Aris Antsaklis,Nikolaos Papantoniou,Dimitrios Loutradis,Vasilios Pergialiotis +8 more
TL;DR: UCA measurement during the second trimester of pregnancy may be a useful method of determining women at risk of delivering preterm, however, more studies are needed to assess the reproducibility of these findings and reach conclusive evidence.
Journal ArticleDOI
First trimester 3D volumetry. Association of the gestational volumes with the birth weight.
Aris Antsaklis,Eleftherios Anastasakis,Ourania Komita,Marianna Theodora,Petros Hiridis,George Daskalakis +5 more
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that the embryo volume during the first trimester of pregnancy correlates better with birth weight than the CRL, which might assist in the identification of the high risk pregnancies caring macrosomic and low birth weight fetuses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intraplacental Fetal Vessel Diameter May Help Predict for Placental Invasiveness in Pregnant Women at High Risk for Placenta Accreta Spectrum Disorders.
Charis Bourgioti,Anastasia E. Konstantinidou,Konstantina Zafeiropoulou,Aristeidis Antoniou,Stavros Fotopoulos,Marianna Theodora,George Daskalakis,Maria Evangelia Nikolaidou,Chara Tzavara,Aikaterini Letsika,Epameinondas Anastasios Martzoukos,Lia A. Moulopoulos +11 more
TL;DR: Assessment of intraplacental fetal vessels with other MRI descriptors improved the ability of MRI to help predict PAS and peripartum complications.
