The literature reviewed suggests that, much as the concept of performance management systems has been in existence for a long period of time, as early as 1980s, it is only in the early 2000s that organizations begun to reap the benefits of implementing such systems. With Norton and Kaplan invention of the balanced scorecard (Kaplan R, 2010) organizations started to base performance by considering many aspects that constitutes performance of an organization such as Financials, Internal business processes, customer service and people management. Use of these performance parameters would assess both individual and business performance as a whole. Literature suggests that integrating Information technology into business processes for example, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Supply chain Management systems (SCM) and Inventory management, overlooking modernizing people management systems like performance management, could be a misdirected investment. This form of IT implementations in many public institutions and indeed privately owned entities has not yielded expected results. This is because regardless of how good a technology might be and how huge the investment could be, if the people working on such IT systems are not efficient, the business cannot be productive, and therefore, the efficiency of any IT system can only yield results when there is a high level of efficiency from people using such systems. Entrepreneurial opportunity resides on the level of the individual, the company and the economy. There are overlapping concepts of entrepreneurship, economic, social and administrative. Therefore, current research has introduced the concept of entrepreneurship from the standpoint of economic and social psychology as well as administration, which is based on the opportunity, in addition to the concept of the entrepreneur, centred on the role of entrepreneurship and innovation as the most important requirements to sustain the economy based on the knowledge. Also, the concept of economic intelligence challenges posed by the activities of a knowledge-based economy, methods and tools within the stages of the process of intelligence economic are discussed. The conclusion that the roots of entrepreneurship are economic, focused on what happens when entrepreneurs create a company; however, the current focus is managerial and centred on how entrepreneurs create and manage the company.

Entrepreneurial opportunity issues

One of the obvious trends in current business environment is the increased competition. In this context, organizations are becoming more and more aware of the importance of knowledge as a key factor in obtaining competitive advantage. A possible solution in knowledge management is Economic Intelligence (EI) that involves the collection, evaluation, processing, analysis, and dissemination of economic data (about products, clients, competitors, etc.) inside organizations. The availability of massive quantities of data correlated with advances in information and communication technology allowing for the filtering and processing of these data provide new tools for the production of economic intelligence. The research is focused on innovative aspects of economic intelligence process (models of analysis, activities, methods and informational tools) and is providing practical guidelines for initiating this process. In this paper, we try: (a) to contribute to a coherent view on economic intelligence process (approaches, stages, fields of application); b) to describe the most important models of analysis related to this process; c) to analyze the activities, methods and tools associated with each stage of an EI process.

The rocketing trend manifested in the last years in the information system domain has led to a considerable increase of research activity in this field. The purpose of this article is to identify the main research methodologies in management information systems in our country and in European space. Based on our research's results, we present specific categories for research classification and describe various new trends in scientific publications related to management information. In our research we used empiric methods based on knowledge extraction from databases and archives related to various representative publications in management information field.
