A slam-capable rotary latch employs a single rotary jaw that is releasably retained in its latched position by a rotary pawl, with the latch having a pair of spaced housing side plates that sandwich the rotary jaw and the rotary pawl, with the side plates defining aligned first and second U-shaped notches that cooperate with a third U-shaped notch formed in the rotary jaw for concurrently receiving and latchingly retaining within the confines of the first, second and third U-shaped notches a suitably configured strike formation, with housing side plate portions that define a selected one of the first and second U-shaped notches being rigidified and strengthened by the close proximity presence of a flange 1) that is formed integrally with side plate portions that define the selected notch and 2) that extends transversely to bridge between the housing side plates at a location near the first and second U-shaped notches. The rotary latch is particularly well suited to be bracket-mounted together with an operating linkage to form a modular assembly that can be installed behind the front wall of the closure of an industrial cabinet by utilizing the same threaded fasteners that are used to hold a flush-mountable paddle handle and housing assembly in place in a mounting opening that is formed through the front wall of the closure. The latch may be "locked" by positioning a movable locking member to extend into a path of movement of the operating linkage to selectively permit and prevent movement of the linkage along the path of movement.

Handle operable rotary latch and lock

A latch mechanism for a door has first and second latches, a handle, a first cam connected to the first and second latches, a second cam and a third cam connected to the handle such that movement of the handle operates the first and second latches by transmitting movement from the third cam to the first cam through the second cam. One or more rods may be used to connect the latches and or handle. The first handle may simultaneously operate the first and second latches. A second handle may also be provided for simultaneously operating the latches. The first cam includes a finger and the second cam includes a projection that is selectively engageable with the finger. Movement of the third cam causes movement of the projection which in turn causes movement of the first cam when the projection is engaged with the finger of the first cam. The first and second latches may be locked by disengaging the projection and the finger.

Door and latch mechanism

A rotary paddle handle assembly for vehicle closures and the like includes a horizontally pivoting handle with a tab, a vertically reciprocating rack disposed adjacent the tab and a pinion engaged with the rack. The pinion is configured for operable connection with an associated latch, such that when the handle is lifted, the tab shifts the vertically reciprocating rack and rotates the pinion for unlocking the latch.

Rotary paddle handle assembly

A pull handle mechanism for vehicle caps and the like of the type having an access door with at least one cable actuated closure latch, includes a base, with an exterior portion received through a mounting hole in the access door and an interior portion configured with an axially extending slide cavity. A retainer engages the exterior portion of the base to mount the pull handle mechanism in the access door. A handle having a scoop-shaped exterior portion with a downwardly opening finger recess, includes a rearwardly extending shaft slidingly received in the slide cavity to permit longitudinal reciprocation therebetween. A biasing member is positioned between the base and the handle, and urges the same together. A cable mount connects the actuator cable with the handle, such that pulling the handle outwardly tenses the actuator cable and releases the closure latch to permit the access door to be pivoted to an open position.
