Sustainable circular supplier selection: A novel hybrid approach

Sustainability has emerged as an important industrial strategic outlook expanding beyond organizational boundaries to include the supply chain. Simultaneously, the industry has also been faced with supply chain resilience concerns. Research on the intersection of supply chain sustainability and resilience is nascent and is a consequence of their observed mutual influences. However, confusion about concepts, implementation methods, and measurements of sustainable and resilient supply chains remains. This study completes a systematic literature review that critically examines several major observations and directions. We find the concept of sustainable supply chains is more established, and general agreement on its theoretical foundations exists. Supply chain resilience is relatively less mature. The nexus and relationships between the two topics are often incoherent: there is confusion on sustainable and resilient supply chains establishment; there is no clarity on what practices could jointly advance both areas. A major conflict exists since sustainability generally focuses on efficiency, while resilience seeks effectiveness. We recommend studies to analyze implementation relationships and impact. We also observe that performance measurement systems should be developed to assess supply chain sustainability and resilience performance taking with explicit consideration time horizons considered in these measures.

Integrating sustainability and resilience in the supply chain: A systematic literature review and a research agenda

Approaches for supporting sustainable supplier selection - A literature review

With the increased awareness of environmental issues worldwide, sustainable production and development have become very important for various industries. Through green supplier selection and order allocation (GSSOA), companies can save costs, improve their green performance and thus build competitive advantage. To select appropriate supply partners and reasonable allocate order quantity, this paper develops a new integrated GSSOA model through the combination of linguistic Z-numbers, alternative queuing method (AQM) and multi-objective line programming (MOLP) model. The principal contribution of this work lies in the following aspects: Firstly, the linguistic Z-numbers are adopted to express decision-makers’ performance evaluations of alternative suppliers comprehensively. Secondly, a step-weight assessment ratio analysis (SWARA) technique is used to calculate the weights of selection criteria. Then, an extended AQM is proposed for the ranking of the given green suppliers. Finally, a MOLP model is established to determine the optimal order quantity for the qualified green suppliers according to their priority values. An empirical example and a comparison analysis with the existing methods are presented to illustrate the rationality and efficiency of our developed GSSOA model.

An Extended Alternative Queuing Method with Linguistic Z-numbers and Its Application for Green Supplier Selection and Order Allocation

Thus, this analysis gathers a collection of factors from established literature of green supplier selection (GSS), including seven categories and 58 attributes. The objective of this research is to classify the key factors which are presented as qualitative information. Fuzzy logic rules are used to transform qualitative expert knowledge into numerical data. Then, we adopt the Delphi method (DM) to filter and rate unneeded factors according to their relevance. The results indicate 24 important factors for the GSS process. Five categories are included: Performance and technology ability, Environmental management, Pollution control, Quality and Service. The most significant factors are recognized as green research and development, ecodesign, green image, green packaging and remanufacturing. Sustainable supplier selection and order allocation: a fuzzy approach

The main objective of this paper is to develop an integrated multiobjective and multiperiod mathematical model for sustainable supplier selection and order allocation of an automotive manufacturer. In spite of the vast quantity of research on this area, integrated consideration of risk and inflation in sustainable supplier selection and order allocation problem is less investigated. To fill this gap, this paper aims to develop a multiobjective sustainable supplier selection and order allocation model considering risk and inflation. Particularly, six objective functions of total cost, economic score, environmental score, social score, inflation rate, and risk level along with related constraints are optimized in the model. The developed model is solved using weighted sum approach and augmented $\varepsilon $ -constraint method. In addition, a sensitivity analysis has been conducted. The results provide the best sustainable suppliers and the optimum quantity of products to be purchase from each supplier in each period.

Sustainable Supplier Selection and Order Allocation Under Risk and Inflation Condition

Nanotechnology has immense potential for the development of novel and necessary products that benefit human health, the environment, and industries. Silver nanoparticles and their nanocomposites have gained tremendous importance in the field of nanotechnology owing to their widespread usage in various realms of science and technology, including electronics, biomedical, environmental protection, textile industry, cosmetics, therapeutics, photonics, agriculture, and so on. As the characteristic properties of silver nanostructures, like excellent SERS/SPR, surface properties, diversity in shape, surface charge, dissolution rate, controlled silver ion release for mediating the antimicrobial toxicity and cytotoxicity towards cancer cells, and efficient biocompatibility, which render them to be potential antimicrobial, anticancer and diagnostic agents. Recently, Allium saralicum extract has been used for green-synthesizing the silver nanoparticles and investigation of its biomedical effects. In the present research, we formulated a modern chemotherapeutic drug by silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) containing Allium saralicum‎ aqueous extract for the treatment of breast cancer. Characterization of AgNPs was done by UV-Vis, FT‐IR, TEM, and FE‐SEM. The bands at 488 and 539 cm-1 (belonging to the Ag-O bond) approves the production of silver nanoparticles. The spherical morphology with a range size of 13.9 to 55.2 nm is obtained for synthesized nanoparticles. The band at 434 nm approves the AgNPs formation. To survey the cytotoxicity and anti-human breast cancer effects of AgNO3, Allium saralicum‎, and AgNPs, MTT assay was used on the SK-BR-3, MDA-MB-231, AU565 [AU-565], and Hs 281.T cell lines. Silver nanoparticles had very low cell viability and anticancer properties dose-dependently against cancer cell lines without any cytotoxicity on the normal cell line. The best result of anticancer properties of AgNPs against the above cell lines was seen in the case of the MDA-MB-231 cell line. The IC50 of nanoparticles were 208, 250, 200, and 188 µg/mL against SK-BR-3, MDA-MB-231, AU565 [AU-565], and Hs 281.T cell lines, ‎respectively. ‎
