This article studies the roles within couples, the main decision makers in family vacations, for each of the subdecisions into which the purchase process can be divided. This implies not only identifying the role played by each member of the couple in each subdecision but also determining the variables behind whether the man, the woman, or both jointly, have the greatest influence in each case. To this end, the use of 375 sets of questionnaires completed by each partner separately provided greater validity and reliability than other studies that have depended on only one answer per couple. The results show that vacations tend to follow a joint decision-making process, except for when it comes to searching for information, which is done autonomously by either partner. Women’s work situation and differences in education level within the couple are the variables that best explain how couples make decisions when purchasing family vacations.

Couple Roles in Subdecisions on Family Vacations

Architects can influence workplace behaviours and manoeuvre workers’ emotions through aligning design strategies with human moods. Design sustains organisational well-being through strengthening space occupants’ empowerment, leading to better work performances. Issue : Existing research has limited empirical evidence on the impact of personal empowerment (PE) on organisational opportunity (OO). Purpose : This paper aims to verify the statistical predictability of OO based on PE. Approach : Multiple Correlation and Multiple Linear Regression were carried out to assess linear associations and parameters of linear equations to predict OO components based on PE items. Findings : OO components were predictable by the majority of the PE items and ‘ monitoring behaviours to suit with situation ’ was the strongest predictor of OO.

Personal empowerment as determinants of organisational opportunity

Tolerance is a rational, practical, and highly recommended practice in Islamic teachings. This study aspires to identify tolerance levels through shura practiced by Islamic Education Teachers (IET) across all national primary schools in Peninsular Malaysia. This study was conducted entirely using quantitative approach. A survey along with a five-point Likert scale questionnaire was distributed to 433 respondents in 4 different zones representing the state of Kedah (north zone), Kelantan (east zone), Selangor (central zone) and Johor (south zone). The results showed that the (IETs) tolerance level through shura is at high value (min = 4.39 and sd = 0.383). The contribution of this study is to boost the comprehension of openness through a more dynamic shura towards educators because of its capacity to promote positive shift in any school management activities.

The Practice of Tolerance among Islamic Education Teachers (IETs) through Shura in the Management of Da’wah Activities in Schools

This study aims to explore the first rater officers’ perspectives on the application of performance appraisal attributes in performance appraisal system in a higher education institution in Sarawak. Six attributes were focused on the study namely clarification of the system, justification of the system, control criteria, employee participation, system management, and credibility of the assessor. The study uses a qualitative methodology using semi-structured interview techniques and data analysis in thematic approach. Three common issues are the limitation of the system’s availability, insufficient scoring distribution towards lecturers who are involved in administrative work and limited capability of the server. Along with that, two critical issues are the subjective judgment of personality traits and limited utilization of the system. The implication raised based on the issues is work processes are interrupted, employee dissatisfaction and organizational image are affected. In conclusion, the issues within the performance appraisal system need to be taken seriously to avoid conflicts.

Application of performance appraisal system (PAS) attributes among first rater officers (FRO’s): Issues and Implication

Background Early childhood caries (ECC) is the most common dental caries in children. The 2013 Indonesian basic health survey showed that there were still many children in developmental age affected by dental caries. Parents' participation is very necessary in guiding, giving understanding, reminding, and providing facilities so that children can maintain their overall oral hygiene. Hence, parents can prevent plaque accumulation and the occurrence of caries in children. Objective This study aimed to determine the effect of husbands' support on the decision of mothers to take their children to the dentist. Subjects and methods This study used a cross-sectional method. The samples from this study were 95 mothers from 3 kindergartens in Surabaya. Ninety-five mothers were randomly chosen as research respondents and filled out the research questionnaires. The data obtained were processed using statistical analysis to determine the correlation. Results Research respondents with low husband support (subjective norms) who did not take their children to the dentist had a significant value (p = 0.004) compared to the study respondents with high husband support who did not bring their children to the dentist (p = 0.093). Conclusion Mothers with low support from husbands tend to have the attitude not to take their children to do routine dental and oral examinations.

Husband's Support and Wife's Decision to Children's Dental Visit: Is There Any Relationship?

Family decision making is a process where families make decisions regarding purchases of goods and services to be consumed by members of the family. Past research indicates that decision making process varies with products and services purchased. Factors found to effect the decision making process include culture, sex role orientation, and resources of husbands and wives. The objectives of this research are to investigate the decision making process and the factors affecting this particular process. Two hundred and fiftyone wives residing in the Klang Valley, Malaysia, were interviewed. Findings indicate that majority of purchases by families are made jointly. Husbands are more dominant in the purchase outcome stage of the decision making process. Language spoken at home is a relatively important cultural element affecting purchase decisions in the family, and sex role orientation seems to influence the purchase of high involvement products. However, wives’ resources do not influence purchase decisions.

Factors Affecting Wives' Role Structure in Urban Family Purchase Decision Making

Implementation of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (PSPTN) 2007 insists academic staffs to adapt to the working environment of the research university. The main challenge is to change the habits and common behaviors of work in order to be matched with the needs of research universities. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the influence of five factors of personality towards the evaluation of effective job performance among the academic staff of UKM. This quantitative study employs personality NEO-FFI measurement and Personality Related Position Requirements Form to measure the effective job performance. A total of 204 UKM academic staff was selected in this study. The overall results showed that the individual personalities predict the job performance of the academic staff by 24 percent. The results described that the all the individual personalities seemed to be important in describing the characteristics of academic staff except for neuroticism. All dimensions of an effective performance appraisal correspond to the study. This study was successfully identified the personality factors and dimensions of effective performance evaluation among UKM academic staff in the era of research universities.
