Trifluoromethylated pyranose derivatives as the chiral dopant for ferroelectric liquid crystals

TL;DR: In this paper, the pyranose derivatives with trifluoromethyl group were found to be excellent chiral dopants for ferroelectric liquid crystals, inducing large spontaneous polarization by their addition even in a small quantity.

Optically active tetrahydropyrane derivatives, liquid crystal composition and liquid crystal device containing the same

TL;DR: In this article, an optically active tetrahydropyran derivative represented by one of the following general formulae, a liquid crystal composition containing the derivative, and a liquid-crystal device containing the composition are disclosed.

Optically active fluorine-containing compounds

TL;DR: In this paper, an optically active fluorine-containing compound represented by the general formula (I) ##STR1## was disclosed, wherein Rf is a fluoroalkyl group having 1 or 2 carbon atoms.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis and Properties of Pyranose Derivatives with Trifluoromethyl Group Used as Chiral Dopants for Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals

TL;DR: In this paper, a variety of pyranose derivatives with a trifluoromethyl group were synthesized and found to be excellent chiral dopants for ferroelectric liquid crystals.

Ferroelectric liquid crystal composition and liquid crystal element

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed to obtain a ferroelectric liquid crystal composition in which the temperature range of a chiral smectic C phase is wide and which has an excellent response realized by virtue of the large spontaneous polarization, high-speed response, etc., of the chiral comprising or has heat stability by mixing a matrix liquid crystal comprising several bicyclic phenylpyrimidine compounds (a), a tricyclic pyrimidine compound (b) and a phenyl benzoate derivative (c) with an optically active tetrahydropyr
