Variably configurable and modular local convergence point

An optical fiber cable distribution shelf is disclosed which comprises a cable management clip system in the rear bay as well as a cable management clip system in the front bay of the shelf. The cable management clip systems each include at least one pair of controlled bend clips and at least one divider clip positioned therebeneath in order to control the bend and to route optical fiber into and out of the cable distribution shelf without imparting any undesirable fiber damage or related attenuated signals due to uncontrolled bending of the fibers. Thus, the improved optical fiber cable distribution shelf provides for installing a higher density of fiber optic connections into an optical fiber cable distribution shelf.

Optical fiber cable distribution shelf with cable management system

There is provided fiber drop terminal ('FDT') (10) assemblies for providing selective connections between optical fibers of distribution cables and optical fibers of drop cables, such as in multiple dwelling units. The FDT assemblies include a base (12,712) and a cover (22,722) that define a tongue (678) and groove (670) that selectively engage to seal the base and cover. The FDT assemblies also include a mounting plate (715) for mounting of the base (712) and cover (722), as well as a mounting plate extension (716) for mounting of a skirt (718). The skirt provides slack storage for drop cables exiting the FDT. The components of the FDT assembly are selectively interlockable to prevent unauthorized access to the interior cavity of the base and cover and to the slack storage area of the skirt.

Optical termination pedestal

A multi-turn non-contacting rotary shaft position sensor that determines a positional parameter of a rotating shaft. The sensor converts the rotational movement of an input shaft to a linear translational movement of a magnetic element. A magnetically sensitive sensor (38) is provided in a fixed location in close proximity to the magnetic element (16, 18) within the flux field of that magnetic element (16, 18). As the input shaft (22) rotates, the magnetic element (16, 18) moves along that linear path toward or away from the magnetically sensitive sensor (38) so that the sensor detects the change in the magnetic flux imposed by the magnetic element. That change in magnetic flux is used to determine a positional parameter of the input shaft (22).

Multi-turn, non-contacting rotary shaft position sensor

A pre-connectorized loose tube cable protects the optical fibers as the fibers are being routed from the end of an outer sheath to the fiber distribution shelf. The pre-connectorized loose tube cable has a plurality of flexible tubes which are connected to a respective plurality of buffer tubes. The flexible tubes are securely attached to the ends of the buffer tubes and to the pre-connectorized loose tube cable by a capping epoxy and by heat shrinks. The flexible tube has a wall thickness which is greater than the minimum bend radius for the fibers. With such a wall thickness, the fibers are not bent past their minimum bend radius, and thus do not break, even if the flexible tube is bent up to an angle of one hundred eighty degrees.

Pre-connectorized loose tube cable

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect an optical fiber at the time of routing the optical fiber from a non-fixed tube cable made into a connector to a fiber connection point or the like. SOLUTION: The non-fixed tube cable 30 made into the connector protects the optical fiber 12 routed from the end of an outer side sheath 2 to a distribution shelf and is provided with plural flexible tubes 32 connected to plural butter tubes. The flexible tubes 32 are fixed to the end of the butter tubes and the nonfixed tube cable 30 made into the connector by cap epoxy and heat radiation parts. The flexible tubes 32 are provided with a wall thickness thicker than the initial bending radius of the fiber 12 and thus, the fiber 12 is not bent exceeding the minimum bending radius and is not damaged even when the flexible tubes 32 are bent to an angle to 180 deg..
