Disclosed are a liquid crystal display device which reduces the number of masks and improves an aperture ratio, and a method for fabricating the same. The liquid crystal display device includes gate and data lines perpendicularly intersecting on a substrate having pixel and pad parts; a thin film transistor on the substrate at the intersection of the gate and data lines; a pixel electrode on the substrate at the pixel part and connected directly to a drain electrode of the thin film transistor; an insulating film on the overall surface of the substrate including the pixel electrode and the thin film transistor; an organic film on the insulating film over the thin film transistor and the data line; and a common electrode of slit shapes overlapping the pixel electrode such that the insulating film is interposed between the common electrode and the pixel electrode.

Liquid crystal display device and method for fabricating the same

A method of manufacturing a thin film transistor array panel is provided, the method includes: forming a gate line on an insulating substrate; forming a gate insulating layer; forming a semiconductor layer; forming a data conductive layer including a data line and a drain electrode; depositing a passivation layer; forming a photoresist including a first portion located on an end portion of the gate line, a second portion thicker than the first portion and located on the drain electrode, and a third portion thicker than the second portion; exposing a portion of the passivation layer under the second portion of the photoresist and a portion of the gate insulating layer under the first portion of the photoresist by etching using the photoresist as an etch mask; forming first and second contact holes exposing the drain electrode and the end portions of the gate line, respectively; and forming a pixel electrode connected to the drain electrode through the first contact hole.

Thin film transistor array panel and manufacturing method thereof

A liquid crystal display device of the present invention includes a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal layer provided between the substrates, wherein liquid crystal molecules in the liquid crystal layer have a negative dielectric anisotropy, and the liquid crystal molecules are aligned in a direction substantially vertical to the substrates when no voltage is being applied and are axis-symmetrically aligned in each of a plurality of pixel regions under application of a voltage.

Liquid crystal display device, and method for producing the same

A gate line extending in a horizontal direction is formed on an insulating substrate, and a data line is formed perpendicular to the gate line defining a pixel of a matrix array. Pixel electrodes receiving image signals through the data line are formed in a pixel, and a thin film transistor having a gate electrode connected to the gate line, a source electrode connected to the data line, and a drain electrode connected to the pixel electrode is formed on the portion where the gate lines and the data lines intersect. A storage wire including a storage electrode line in the horizontal direction, a storage electrode connected to the storage electrode line, and at least one of the storage electrode connection portions connecting storage electrodes of neighboring pixels is formed in the same direction as the gate line. A redundant repair line overlaps and is insulated from the storage wire at one end and overlaps the storage wire or the gate wire of a neighboring pixel at the other end is formed in the same layer as the data wire. Also, a storage wire connection portion connecting the storage wires of a neighboring pixel is formed in the same layer as the pixel electrode. In this structure, if portions of the gate wire or the data wire are disconnected, the portions overlapping the disconnected wire, the storage wire, and the redundant repair line are shorted to repair an open wire defect.

Thin film transistor array panel

A pixel includes a load, a transistor which controls a current supplied to the load, a storage capacitor, and first to fourth switches. By inputting a potential in accordance with a video signal into the pixel after the threshold voltage of the transistor is held in the storage capacitor, and holding a voltage of the sum of the threshold voltage and the potential, variations of a current value caused by variations of threshold voltage of a transistor can be suppressed. Consequently, a predetermined current can be supplied to the load such as a light-emitting element. Further, by changing the potential of a power supply line, a display device with a high duty ratio can be provided.

Semiconductor device, display device, and electronic device

PURPOSE: To decrease a point defect in a TFT array substrate and to improve the product yield at the time of manufacturing by providing a capacity forming electrode which has a shape running along the outside peripheral part of a picture element electrode and opposed through this picture element electrode and a gate insulating film and a semiconductor film, and cutting partially this semiconductor film. CONSTITUTION: A line section line 40 formed integrally with a gate electrode 21 and a row selection line 41 formed in one body with a drain electrode 27 are roughly orthogonal to each other, and in the vicinity of its intersection, a TFT 28 is placed. Also, a capacity forming electrode 22 has a shape running along the outside peripheral part of a picture element electrode 25, and moreover, in a part opposed to a connecting part of a source electrode 26 and the picture element electrode 25, a semiconductor film 24 is cut partially. In such a case, since the source electrode 26 is formed on the picture element electrode 25 opposed to the cutting part of the semiconductor film 24 and in its vicinity, an electrical connection of the center part of the picture element electrode 25 of the outside peripheral part is obtained by the operation of the source electrode 26. In such a way, in the case of the cutting part of the semiconductor film 24 exists, the number of point defects in a display image is decreased to about 1/6, comparing with the case of it does not exist.
