The process includes peening of the article, optionally followed by an annealing treatment.

An upper hold-down spring structure for a nuclear reactor fuel assembly. A hold down spring 20 mounted on an upper surface of an upper nozzle 11 of a fuel assembly for a pressurized water reactor is composed of an upper plate spring 21 having plastic spring characteristics and a lower plate spring 23, base ends of which are fixed with a fastening bolt 18 at a common position. The upper spring 21 and the lower spring 23 are made of precipitation hardened nickel base alloy and the thickness of the springs are determined so as to keep the stresses generated less sensitive to stress corrosion cracking.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aseismatic device of an assembled shelf made of pipe in which a sticking part of a base part and a floor face can easily be peeled off without inclining the assembled shelf of pipe when the assembled shelf of pipe is needed to be moved for changing arrangement. SOLUTION: The aseismatic device has a movable plate 1 of metal having pipe securing tools 2 in an upper front face of the same and in which through grooves 3a, 3c directed in a vertical direction and parallel with each other are formed in right and left sides in the lower part of the same and an L-shaped base part 4 of metal having a raised plate part 5 overlapping with the lower back face of the movable plate 1 and a horizontal plate part 6 bent to the front face side at the lower end of the raised plate part 5 and integrally connected to the lower end side. Fastening screws 7 having shaft parts 7a passing through the through grooves 3a, 3c in fore and aft directions and head parts 7b for fastening are threaded and fixed near the upper end in the front face of the raised plate part 5 of the base part 4 so as to slide in a vertical direction in the through grooves 3a, 3c located in the right and left sides, and an adhesive sheet 10 is arranged in the back face of the horizontal plate part 6 of the base part 4. Aseismatic device of assembled shelf made of pipe

PURPOSE:To enhance the radiation creep resistance of a stainless steel for a spring for pressing each nuclear fuel pellet by adding a little Ti to the steel. CONSTITUTION:A spring for pressing each fuel pellet in a nuclear reactor is manufactured with an austenite stainless steel contg. 0.1-0.15% C, 8.00-10.0% Ni, 17.0-19.0% Cr and 0.15-0.20% Ti. The loss of the elasticity of the spring due to radiation creep is prevented, and the spring can be used for a long time.

Austenite stainless steel for spring for nuclear fuel

PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance in the weld zone of an Ni alloy contg. Cr by subjecting the weld zone thereof to strong plastic working then heating the weld zone so as to form a fine granular structure by a primary recrystallization. CONSTITUTION:The respective surfaces in the weld metal and weld heat affected zone of a weldment made of an Ni alloy contg. Cr are sujbected to strong plastic working and thereafter the strong-plastically worked parts are heated to form the fine granular structure by a primary recrystallization, whereby the corrosion resistance in the weld zone is improved while a mechanical property such as high temp. strength is maintained. The above-mentioned weldment is preferably formed of a welding base metal produced by subjecting the same to an immunization treatment for >=10hr at 650-850 deg.C to deposit thoroughly Cr carbide and to decrease intergranular corrosion. The above-mentioned strong plastic working is accomplished adequately by shot peening or wire peening and the heating in the strong-plastically worked parts is acoomplished preferably at 700-850 deg.C by high frequency induction heating, laser beam heating or IR heating.

Treatment in weld zone of nickel alloy

PURPOSE:To obtain a spring for a nuclear reactor with superior resistance to stress corrosion cracking by subjecting a precipitation strenghtening Ni alloy contg. specified amounts of Cr, Fe, Al, Ti and Nb to cold plastic working at a specified reduction of area between solid soln. treatment and aging stages. CONSTITUTION:The composition of a precipitation strengthening Ni alloy is composed of, by weight, 14-25% Cr, 40-<60%, especially <=50% reduction of area between soln. heat treatment and aging (direct aging) stages. A spring for a nuclear reactor is manufactured using the resulting material.
