Journal ArticleDOI
The isolation and culture of capillary endothelium from epididymal fat.
TL;DR: Capillaries were isolated from collagenase-dissociated epididymal fat by centrifugation to remove floating adipocytes and subsequent filtering to remove blood elements and free stromal cells and revealed that micropinocytic vesicles were present in abundance both at the cell's free surfaces and enclosed within the cytoplasm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and characterization of brain endothelial cells: morphology and enzyme activity.
TL;DR: Enrichment of alkaline phosphatase and ‐γ‐glutamyl transpeptidase activity in microvessel preparations supports the endothelial localization of these enzymes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolic studies on the micropinocytic process in endothelial cells.
TL;DR: Capillaries incubated in the metabolic inhibitors 2,4-dinitrophenol, NaN 3 , or iodoacetate exhibit a dose-dependent reduction of cellular ATP, butMicropinocytic ingestion of sucrose is not affected by concentrations of these inhibitors which markedly reduce or deplete ATP pools.
Journal ArticleDOI
Exclusion of albumin from vesicular ingestion by isolated microvessels.
Journal ArticleDOI
A fluorescense assay for micropinocytosis in isolated capillary endothelium
TL;DR: A rhodamine-ferritin conjugate (RhF) was utilized as a tracer molecule for micropinocytic ingestion because it is electron dense, which permits ultrastructural determination of its mode of incorporation into endothelium, and its fluorescence allows quantitation of its uptake by micropInocytosis.
