Overexpression of the RON gene in human breast carcinoma
Piera Maggiora,Serena Marchiò,Maria Cristina Stella,Maurizia Giai,Antonino Belfiore,Michele De Bortoli,Maria Flavia Di Renzo,A. Costantino,Piero Sismondi,Paolo M. Comoglio +9 more
TL;DR: Overexpression was observed in different histotypic variants of carcinomas; it is associated with the disease at any stage and correlates with the post-menopausal status, suggesting a role for the RON gene in progression of human breast carcinomas to the invasive-metastatic phenotype.
Journal Article
Prostate-specific antigen is a new favorable prognostic indicator for women with breast cancer.
He Yu,Maurizia Giai,Eleftherios P. Diamandis,Dionyssios Katsaros,Donald J.A. Sutherland,Michael A. Levesque,R. Roagna,Riccardo Ponzone,P. Sismondi +8 more
TL;DR: This study suggests that IR-PSA is an independent favorable prognostic marker for breast cancer and may be used to identify a subgroup of estrogen receptor-negative and/or node-positive patients who have good prognoses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cyclophosphamide, Methotrexate, and Fluorouracil Versus Tamoxifen Plus Ovarian Suppression as Adjuvant Treatment of Estrogen Receptor–Positive Pre-/Perimenopausal Breast Cancer Patients: Results of the Italian Breast Cancer Adjuvant Study Group 02 Randomized Trial
Francesco Boccardo,Alessandra Rubagotti,Domenico Amoroso,Mario Mesiti,D. Romeo,P. Sismondi,Maurizia Giai,F. Genta,Paolo Pacini,V. Distante,A. Bolognesi,D. Aldrighetti,Antonio Farris +12 more
TL;DR: The combination of tamoxifen with ovarian suppression seems to be safe and to yield comparable results relative to standard CMF, and few patients who developed benign gynecologic changes in either group.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic value of a novel circulating serum 90K antigen in breast cancer.
Stefano Iacobelli,Piero Sismondi,Maurizia Giai,Maurizia D'Egidio,Nicola Tinari,C. Amatetti,P. Di Stefano,Clara Natoli +7 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that an elevated 90K antigen level in serum is a predictor of poor prognosis in breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prostate specific antigen in breast cancer, benign breast disease and normal breast tissue
He Yu,Eleftherios P. Diamandis,Michael A. Levesque,Maurizia Giai,R. Roagna,Riccardo Ponzone,Piero Sismondi,Maria Monne,Carlo M. Croce +8 more
TL;DR: Examining quantitatively the PSA levels in 199 breast tumors, 48 tissues with benign breast disease, and 36 normal breast tissues suggests that PSA is expressed frequently by normal breast tissue, by tissue of benign breast diseases, and by breast cancer tissue.
