One embodiment provides an apparatus for displaying an image comprising: a first optical substrate comprising at least one waveguide layer configured to propagate light in a first direction, wherein the at least one waveguide layer of the first optical substrate comprises at least one grating lamina configured to extract the light from the first substrate along the first direction; and a second optical substrate comprising at least one waveguide layer configured to propagate the light in a second direction, wherein the at least one waveguide layer of the second optical substrate comprises at least one grating lamina configured to extract light from the second substrate along the second direction; wherein the at least one grating lamina of at least one of the first and second optical substrates comprises an SBG in a passive mode.

Transparent waveguide display

The present invention is embodied in a system and method for digitally tracking objects in real time. The present invention visually tracks three-dimensional (3-D) objects in dense disparity maps in real time. Tracking of the human body is achieved by digitally segmenting and modeling different body parts using statistical models defined by multiple size parameters, position and orientation. In addition, the present invention is embodied in a system and method for recognizing mutual occlusions of body parts and filling in data for the occluded parts while tracking a human body. The body parts are preferably tracked from frame to frame in image sequences as an articulated structure in which the body parts are connected at the joints instead of as individual objects moving and changing shape and orientation freely.

System and method for visually tracking occluded objects in real time

Provided in one embodiment is an apparatus for displaying an image, comprising: an input image node configured to provide at least a first and a second image modulated lights; and a holographic waveguide device configured to propagate the at least one of the first and second image modulated lights in at least a first direction. The holographic waveguide device comprises: at least a first and second interspersed multiplicities of grating elements disposed in at least one layer, the first and second grating elements having respectively a first and a second prescriptions. The first and second multiplicity of grating elements are configured to deflect respectively the first and second image modulated lights out of the at least one layer into respectively a first and a second multiplicities of output rays forming respectively a first and second FOV tiles.

Holographic wide angle display

An Electrically Switchable Bragg Grating (ESBG) despeckler device comprising at least one ESBG element recorded in a hPDLC sandwiched between transparent substrates to which transparent conductive coatings have been applied. At least one of said coatings is patterned to provide a two-dimensional array of independently switchable ESBG pixels. Each ESBG pixel has a first unique speckle state under said first applied voltage and a second unique speckle state under said second applied voltage.

Laser illumination device

An information processing apparatus has an image display part for displaying a desired image in accordance with an image signal; and imaging parts provided on right and left sides of the image display part. An image obtained from the right side and an image obtained from the left side are combined and displayed, as a desired image, on an image display part of the other end’s terminal or the like. This realizes displays in which speakers can have eye contacts with each other. In this way, there can be provided information processing apparatus, such as a mobile communication terminal, that allows dialogues with speaker’s natural eye contacts realized.

A teleconferencing video system uses two cameras at each station symmetrically positioned on opposite sides of the optical axis between the speaker and the monitor used to produce an image of the listener. The two cameras are used to provide from the two images observed by the cameras a virtual image corresponding to the image that would be viewed by a camera located on the first-mentioned optical axis. This system permits eye contact to be maintained between a speaker and a listener at different stations whereby the feeling of intimacy is enhanced.
