This invention relates to a battery check apparatus comprising an effecting circuit for effecting the power supply battery to decrease an internal resistance of the battery power supply and a check circuit for checking a battery life of the power supply battery after the operation of the effecting circuit.

In a camera having an exposure factor setting dial positioned adjacent a film winding lever, there is provided a safety device including a movable cover arranged to protrude upwardly from the inside of the camera housing over a top panel thereof to prevent the operator from inadvertently manually altering the setting of the dial, whereby improper actuation of the dial is prevented and the camera is made substantially fool-proof. When the cover is retracted into the camera housing by engagement of a knurled key portion thereof, the operator may actuate the dial to revise the exposure setting.

In the disclosed indicating apparatus, an alarm operates an indicator when a light measuring system measures abnormal lighting. A latch latches the alarm in response to a shutter release to indicate that the shutter is open. A switchover device changes the alarm signal in response to the end of an exposure. According to one embodiment of the invention, the indicator displays the alarm condition while the shutter is open. According to another embodiment of the invention, the indicator assumes a condition constituting a substate of the alarm condition.

A camera incorporating a light-meter and a battery-powered lamp for indicng when the level of incident light is so low as to be unsuitable for photography also includes means for determining the state of charge of the battery. The possibility of making an erroneous determination of the state of charge of the battery as the result of failing to cover the photosensitive element during the determination of the state of charge is eliminated.
