A reaction progress variable modeling approach for non-ideal multiphase explosives
TL;DR: In this paper, a mixture fraction based reaction progress variable formulation for aluminized explosives is proposed, which includes a fully compressible treatment of both the gas and solid phases (both aluminum and alumina), heterogenous and homogenous reactions, and effects of group combustion.
ReportDOI
Exponential 6 parameterization for the JCZ3-EOS
TL;DR: A database has been created for use with the Jacobs-Cowperthwaite-Zwisler-3 equation of state (JCZ3-EOS) to determine thermochemical equilibrium for detonation and expansion states of energetic materials.
Journal ArticleDOI
Probabilistic models for reactive behaviour in heterogeneous condensed phase media
TL;DR: This work presents statistically-based models to describe reactive behaviour in heterogeneous energetic materials using probability density functions (pdfs) and derived in a Lagrangian framework that can be incorporated in continuum-level shock physics analysis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modeling of particle compressibility and ignition from shock focusing
TL;DR: In this article, a model for aluminum particles that accounts for material compressibility from shock heating and expansion is presented, and two-phase reaction flow simulations are conducted to determine the post-detonation shock-focusing ignition and burning of aluminum particle mixtures.
