TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a case study on the implementation of active learning in a higher education program, with emphasis on its implementation actions, feedback from students and professors and experiences obtained from the discipline of StatisticalMethods, which is considered as pilot project.
Abstract: Teaching strategies have been used by several Higher Education Institutions to improve learning rates. In this context, international surveys have identified Active Learning as a methodology that provides students with the ability to be co-authors of their own learning process in which they occupy the central role. Professors also play an important role ofprocess mediators through this methodology. Thus, strategies such as problem-based learning, collaborative learning, peerassessment, flipped classroom, among others, have been identified by experts as Active Learning approaches that increaselearning rates. It so happens because it improves autonomy in reading, self-learning, discussions in pairs, informationsharing, researches and discoveries. Despite the foregoing, Active Learning implementation in a higher education course isnot an easy task, thence this research seeks answers to the following question: ‘‘What are the main strengths, limitationsand challenges to implement Active Learning in a higher education institution?’’. In order to answer such a question, thispaper aims to present a case study on the implementation of Active Learning in a higher education program. The object ofthis research is an undergraduate course in Logistics Technology of a Brazilian institution, with emphasis on itsimplementation actions, feedback from students and professors and experiences obtained from the discipline of StatisticalMethods, which is considered as pilot project. In order to better understand its theory, a literature review of ActiveMethodology is going to be presented in the first and second sections, the third section is going to highlight someinternational experiences, its methods are going to be presented in the fourth section, and discussions of the case study andresearch conclusions are going to be shown in the fifth and sixth sections, respectively. Keywords:active learning; strengths; limitations; challenges; implementation; higher education; logistics

TL;DR: Taguchi et al. as mentioned in this paper used a microalgas as a fonte promissora de energia renovavel; alem de fornecerem lipidios, carboidratos, proteinas, vitaminas e pigmentos, dentre outras diversas substâncias de alto valor agregado.

TL;DR: In this paper, a revisão de microalgas is presented, alem de apresentar as vantagens da sua utilizacao for a producao de biodiesel and bio-hidrogenio.

TL;DR: In this article, the concepts of chemometrics in environmental engineering issues and the utilization of experimental design to efficiently analyze experimental data in environmental samples are introduced and two case studies are presented to demonstrate the importance of chemical analyses in water analyses.
Abstract: Advanced Oxidative Processes (AOP) have been successfully employed as efficient water treatment methods. The utilization of AOP on drinking and wastewater represents currently an alternative to costly, hazardous, and slow processes. In order to further establish the ground basis for AOP in water safety and security, reliable and consistent methods of analysis are required. As an alternative to basic statistical methods, which may not successfully describe and forecast the application of a given treatment methodology of water, the use of chemometrics has increased significantly over the past decades. Chemometric analyses are an intersection between analytical chemistry and applied statistical models in order to predict and extract information from a given condition. This chapter introduces the concepts of chemometrics in environmental engineering issues and the utilization of experimental design to efficiently analyze experimental data in environmental samples. Two case studies are presented to demonstrate the importance of chemometrics in water analyses: (1) considering a Taguchi L16 experimental design, and an optimization study using Response Surface Methodology, to evaluate photo-Fenton and ozone AOP-based treatment on an effluent with high concentration of organic matter; (2) using a Taguchi L9 array to evaluate the combination of photocatalytic degradation and AOP of an industrial effluent. The results showed in this chapter demonstrate how a given statistical method can be successfully employed within the intersection of environmental analyses and water issues.
