The present invention relates to a device and a method for imaging an object using very high frequency electromagnetic radiation. Known from the prior art are imaging systems and methods comprising a synthetic aperture, wherein the signals radiated from individual transmitting antennae are differentiated from one another after reflection thereof by an object and reception at a plurality of receivers. Here, systems to accomplish this are known in which a row-like arrangement of transmitters and receivers is used, wherein an object is rotated on a motor-driven platform in front of the transmitting and receiving rows. In contrast, it is the object of the present invention to provide a device and a method for the imaging of an object, said device achieving as high a resolution as possible with as low a number of transmitters and receivers as possible. To achieve this objective, according to the invention a device for imaging of an object using very high frequency electromagnetic radiation is proposed comprising at least two receivers for the very high frequency, wherein the receivers are arranged in cells, a control unit which operated the receivers such that they produce an image in a direction parallel to the row using a synthetic aperture, and an imaging optic that is configured such that it only effects optical imaging in planes that are substantially perpendicular to the row.

Embodiments of the present invention relate to systems, methods, and computer storage media for geographically organizing the storage of data and hosted services in a distributed computing environment. An allocation constraint is utilized to identify and select a geo-region in which an affinity group that is comprised of a hosted service and/or data is to be physically stored. Additionally, a geo-domain within the geo-region is identified for hosting the hosted service and/or data of the affinity group. A stamp, such as a storage stamp or a computation stamp, is identified on the geo-domain for storing the hosted service and/or the data. The hosted service is stored in an identified computation stamp and the data is stored in an identified storage stamp. In an additional exemplary embodiment, the identification of a geo-domain involves analyzing resource information related to potential geo-domains within a geo-region.

The first feed, the sub reflector and the main reflector positioned in a Gregorian optic configuration wherein an output of the first feed is directed to the sub reflector, from the sub reflector to the main reflector and from the main reflector into a first beam. The sub reflector may be shaped to distribute the output of the first feed reflecting off the sub reflector onto the main reflector whereby a central area of the main reflector has a lower illumination than a surrounding outer area of the main reflector and or elongated vertically. The second feed projecting from a hole in the sub reflector is oriented whereby an output of the second feed is directed to the main reflector and from the main reflector into a second beam.

A configurable antenna (100) includes a main reflector (102) and at least two subreflectors (104). Each of the subreflectors (104) is configurably disposed relative to the main reflector (102) to provide an active subreflector (106) for reflecting radiation between the main reflector and a point off of the main reflector in a desired beam pattern. Each subreflector typically has a different shape and may be moved into the active subreflector position to produce a desired beam pattern during operation of the antenna. The antenna (100) further includes a horn (110) disposed at a point off of the main reflector for feeding signals to the reflectors and for receiving signals from the reflectors. The configurable antenna is typically mounted on a satellite system which itself, or in response to instructions or commands from a ground station, reconfigures the antenna to provide the desired beam shape.

A novel single-aperture antenna system for producing multiple closely spaced or overlapping beams. The antenna system has multiple feeds for radiating energy, and a hyperboloidal or ellipsoidal main reflector responsive to the radiated energy for forming multiple beams. The main reflector is configured to form one beam for each of the multiple feeds in the antenna system.

An apparatus for satellite communication may include a reflector configured to redirect electromagnetic energy. Each of multiple feeds may be positioned at a predetermined location with respect to the reflector. A feed-switching mechanism may be configured to selectively activate for use at least one of the multiple feeds. A steering mechanism may be configured to steer the reflector such that a focal point of the reflector approximately coincides with a position of an activated feed of the multiple feeds. The reflector may be mechanically independent of the plurality of feeds and the feed-switching mechanism.

An antenna system comprises a first reflector and a second reflector including one or more radiating elements disposed on a side of the second reflector facing the first reflector. The one or more radiating elements are configured to illuminate the first reflector. The antenna system further comprises a dual reflector feed configured to illuminate the second reflector. The antenna system may further include a beamforming network configured to feed the radiating elements, and to provide amplitude weighting and/or phase control to the antenna system.
