Early Hypospadias Surgery May Lead to a Better Long-Term Psychosexual Outcome
Brendan C. Jones,Michael O'Brien,Janet Chase,Bridget R. Southwell,John M. Hutson,John M. Hutson +5 more

Journal ArticleDOI
Ethics and medical research in children
Andrew Davidson,Michael O'Brien +1 more
TL;DR: While it is generally agreed that children require particular attention because of their vulnerability, there is also increasing concern that children in general should not be disadvantaged by lack of knowledge due to reduced research activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long-term urethral function measured by uroflowmetry after hypospadias surgery: comparison with an age matched control.
TL;DR: At long-term followup after hypospadias surgery urinary flow rates were significantly lower compared to age matched controls but still fell within the normal range, and there was no significant association with lower urinary tract symptoms and poor urinary flow.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel device to assess hip strength: Concurrent validity and normative values in male athletes
Michael O'Brien,Matthew N. Bourne,Matthew N. Bourne,Joshua J Heerey,Ryan G. Timmins,Tania Pizzari +5 more
TL;DR: This externally fixed strength testing device, the GroinBar, may provide a robust method of athlete monitoring and screening that does not rely on tester experience and strength.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two-stage graft urethroplasty for proximal and complicated hypospadias in children: A retrospective study
TL;DR: Two-stage graft urethroplasty repair was successful in 62% of cases after the second-stage procedure, but one-third of the boys required a reoperation after the two-stage planned repair.
