A smart card authenticates a cardholder. The smart card includes a substrate, a sensor module, a wireless transceiver module, and a power circuit. The sensor module includes (a) a biometric sensor adapted to detect biometric information from a person's body, (b) a processor unit adapted to authenticate the person in response to the detected biometric information and generate an authentication signal representing an authentication result, and (c) a memory adapted to store biometric information of a specific individual associated with the smart card. The wireless transceiver module transmits signals received from the processor unit and receives a wirelessly-transmitted power signal. The power circuit generates at least one supply voltage from the received power signal and provides the supply voltage to the sensor module. An electronic passport is embedded with the smart card, and a terminal module is used for wirelessly transmitting power to and receiving signals from the electronic passport.

A combined cycle cogeneration power plant includes a combustion turbine formed by an inlet for receiving fuel, an inlet for receiving air, a combustor for burning the combustion fuel and the air, and an outlet through which hot gaseous combustion product is released; a regenerative fuel heating system formed by a plurality of heat exchangers for transferring heat to combustion fuel for heating the combustion fuel, and modulating control valves for controlling temperature of the combustion fuel; a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) connected to the outlet of the combustion turbine for receiving the gaseous combustion product. The HRSG is formed by a plurality of heat exchangers including steam/water drums, each having a surface blowdown connection, and evaporators connected to the steam/water drums, a water inlet connected with the heat exchangers of the HRSG, a steam outlet, and a stack for releasing the exhausted gaseous combustion product. A steam turbine is provided, and has a steam inlet for receiving steam from the steam outlet of the HRSG, and an exhaust steam outlet; a condenser is connected to the exhaust steam outlet of the steam turbine for condensing steam to a liquid condensate; at least one pump is provided for supplying the liquid condensate from the condenser to the HRSG; and at least one pump is provided for supplying feed water from at least one drum to the HRSG. A conventional-type power plant with a regenerative fuel heating system is also disclosed.

An actual Wobbe Index is calculated for a turbine and compared to a reference Wobbe Index. By comparing the actual and reference Wobbe Indices and recognizing that the reference Wobbe Index has acceptable combustion dynamics, a measure of the combustion dynamics of the operating turbine can be obtained. To lower the possibility of combustion dynamics, causing combustor distress, a feedback signal is provided to change the temperature of the fuel gas provided the combustor. Since the Wobbe Index is a function of temperature and fuel composition, the variation in temperature can be effected to change the Wobbe Index to a reference Wobbe Index having known low combustion dynamics.

A gas turbine plant comprises an air compressor, gas turbine including at least one high temperature section, and driven equipment, which are operatively connected in series, a gas turbine combustor arranged between the air compressor and the gas turbine, a fuel system disposed for supplying a fuel to the gas turbine combustor, and a heat exchange section for heating the fuel from the fuel by means of a high pressure air as a heating medium fed from the air compressor.

A gas turbine engine is piloted with a pilot flow of fuel delivered to a combustor as a liquid. A first additional flow of the fuel is also delivered to the combustor as a liquid. A second additional flow of the fuel is vaporized and delivered to the combustor as a vapor. A fuel injector may have passageways associated with each of the three flows.

The combustion turbine system comprises a fuel line (50) connected to the combustor (30) with a portion of the fuel line being disposed in heat transfer relationship with the exhaust gas from the combustion turbine (28) so that the fuel may be heated by the exhaust gas prior to being introduced into the combustor. The sytem may also comprise a fuel by-pass (62) control system for mixing unheated fuel with the heated fuel to control the temperature (66) of the fuel being introduced into the combustor.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and economical fuel heating device of a combustion gas turbine, capable of heating duel to the temperature of about 316°C (600°F) if required and capable of being used for a single cycle or combined cycle combustion gas turbine electric power plant, and a method for driving it. SOLUTION: A combustion gas turbine device 20 is provided with a fuel pipeline 50 connected to a combustor 30, and a part of the fuel passage is arranged so as to have the heat transfer relationship to exhaust gas of a combustion gas turbine 28 so that fuel may be heated by the exhaust gas before being introduced. Moreover, the combustion gas turbine device is provided with a fuel bypass control system 6, for mixing unheated fuel and heated fuel in order to control the temperature of fuel to be introduced to the combustor.
