Identifying Impacts in Composite Plates with Piezoelectric Strain Sensors, Part I: Theory

TL;DR: In this paper, the theory used in a system that identifies foreign body impact on a composite plate using built-in strain sensors is summarized, and the identification system consists of a model of the composite plate and an identification algorithm.

Identifying Impacts in Composite Plates with Piezoelectric Strain Sensors, Part II: Experiment

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present an impact identification system on a composite plate with free boundaries and clamped boundaries, which was tested with an average location error ranging from 39 inches for free boundary case to 49 inches for clamped plate with noise.
