A stable topical composition consists essentially of at least about 1 wt.% L-ascorbic acid, preferably from about 3 to 20 wt. % L-ascorbic acid, and more preferably about 5 to 10 wt. % L-ascorbic acid in water and a carrier for topical application is disclosed. Such a composition appears to allow ready penetration into the skin and retards the damage caused by ultraviolet light. Any composition containing at least about 1 wt. % L-ascorbic acid is expected to have beneficial effects, with the concentration of L-ascorbic acid being primarily limited by its solubility in the water/carrier system. The ratio of water to carrier is at least 1:1, and more preferably from 2:1 to 10:1, and the pH of the composition is no more than 3.0 to 3.5, preferably no more than about 2.5.

Stable ascorbic acid compositions

The present invention relates to a liquid acidic hard surface cleaning composition having a pH of above 2.0 and comprising formic acid, citric acid and an alkaline material.

Liquid acidic hard surface cleaning composition

The present invention describes liquid aqueous acidic cleaning compositions suitable for removing limescale, comprising an acid system, wherein said acid system comprises formic acid and an acid forming slightly water soluble calcium salts. The compositions of the present invention deliver excellent limescale removal performance as well as outstanding greasy soap scum cleaning on hard-surfaces.

The invention relates to solutions containing acidic compositions that have a pH of less than 1, are non-caustic to human tissue and are safe for human ingestion. These compositions may be used as the sole or major component of solutions such as cleansers, pharmaceuticals, food preservatives and disinfectants. The acidic compositions may be used in medical, industrial, military and household applications. The invention also relates methods of administering and using the acidic compositions of the invention.

Multi-purpose acid compositions

Aqueous compositions for the ambient temperature or cold disinfection of soft contact lenses during non-wearing periods is provided. The composition includes water and a disinfectant composition comprising an effective amount of an ascorbic acid compound for killing bacteria, generally between about 0.1% and 20% by weight of the total aqueous composition, calculated as ascorbic acid. The disinfectant composition may also include a potentiating agent to further enhance the kill factor of ascorbic acid with respect to fungi, yeasts and viruses.

Soft contact lens ambient temperature disinfectant solution containing ascorbic acid or salt thereof

A composition and method for cleaning tanks for drinking water, particularly for removing deposits consisting mainly of an agglomerate of algae, microorganisms and ochre sediments. The composition is an aqueous solution comprising about 3 to 6% of ascobic acid, 2 to 3% of formic acid, 7 to 10% of phosphoric acid, 1 to 3% of citric acid, 13 to 15% of hydrochloric acid and 10 to 15% of an aqueous isopropyl alcohol (all % by weight). The method involves spraying said aqueous solution under pressure onto the deposits.
