Wnt/β-Catenin Signaling Stabilizes Hemidesmosomes in Keratinocytes.
Hideyuki Kosumi,Mika Watanabe,Mika Watanabe,Satoru Shinkuma,Takuma Nohara,Yu Fujimura,Tadasuke Tsukiyama,Giacomo Donati,Hiroaki Iwata,Hideki Nakamura,Hideyuki Ujiie,Ken Natsuga +11 more
TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper showed that inhibition of Wnt/β-catenin signaling disturbs Hemidesmosomes (HDs) organization in keratinocytes and suggested that Wnt signaling pathway could be a potential therapeutic target for treating HD-defective diseases, such as epidermolysis bullosa.

Subepidermal blisters are healed by wedge-shaped keratinocytes of hair follicle origin
Yu Fujimura,Mika Watanabe,Mika Watanabe,Kota Ohno,Yasuaki Kobayashi,Shota Takashima,Hideki Nakamura,Hideyuki Kosumi,Yunan Wang,Yosuke Mai,Andrea Lauria,Valentina Proserpio,Hideyuki Ujiie,Hiroaki Iwata,Wataru Nishie,Masaharu Nagayama,Salvatore Oliviero,Giacomo Donati,Hiroshi Shimizu,Ken Natsuga +19 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that subepidermal blisters heal primarily via the replenishment of keratinocytes from HF pools at the expense of HF growth and through the proper morphological transformation of the regenerated cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Buried myoepithelial stem cells as a reservoir for repairing the exposed airway epithelium.
TL;DR: The tracheal epithelium that connects the upper airway to the lung consists of two compartments, the submucosal gland (SMG) and the surface airway epithelio (SAE), and myoepithelial cells in SMG represent a stem cell reservoir to repair severely injured surface epithelia.
