TL;DR: The tool-set is currently being tested by shadowing QinetiQ flight clearance trials on weapons carriage on in-service aircraft in the UK and results to date show a high degree of correlation of off-line predictions of aircraft handling and performance with flight test data.
Abstract: This paper describes tools that offer a mixture of classical, multivariable and Bifurcation Analysis approaches to the flight clearance problem. Collectively, the approaches address linear and non-linear, time and frequency domain behaviour and can be used for both off-line and in-flight analysis. The tools are specifically tailored for automated flight clearance analysis and use an analysis framework that originated from non-linear Bifurcation Analysis. The tool-set is currently being tested by shadowing QinetiQ flight clearance trials on weapons carriage on in-service aircraft in the UK. The weapons are unconventionally large and hence pose a 'new' problem for which there is little historical data to rely upon for read across. The results to date show a high degree of correlation of off-line predictions of aircraft handling and performance with flight test data. This paper describes the tool-set and presents sample analysis results.
