A concave portion is formed on a lower surface at a position corresponding to the direction switch. The concave portion includes a valley and two inclined surfaces. An A button capable of being operated by index finger of the hand holding the holding portion is provided on the backward inclined surface. By processing an image signal obtained by imaging an infrared ray from LED modules by the imaging device, it is possible to obtain an operation signal varying according to a position and/or attitude of the controller.

A system, method, and computer program product for automatically providing reading place-markers to a user reading a textual document upon an electronic display. A gaze-tracking element monitors a user's gaze while he or she reads the textual document and determines a look-away event. In response to a look-away event, the system automatically provides a reading place-marker by accentuating an area at or near where the user looked away from the text. In this way the user may more easily return to the location at which he or she ceased reading. In some embodiments the place-marker is automatically removed upon determination that the user's gaze has returned to the marked location within the text. In some such embodiments the reading-place marker is removed in response to the user resuming a characteristic reading gaze motion at or near the marked location. In this way the marker is removed when no longer needed.

Method and apparatus for electronic books with enhanced educational features

A portable media player has a gaze-responsive power conservation feature. The portable media player includes a casing, processor, visual display, audio display, main memory functionally coupled to the processor, and secondary memory functionally coupled to the processor, where the secondary memory has media content retrievably stored therein. A gaze sensor transmits signals to the processor responsive to a gaze of a user. A program has instructions executable by the processor to: (a) present media content to a user by displaying visual content on the visual display and by playing audio content through the audio display; and (b) reduce power consumption of the visual display by lowering an intensity of display output when the gaze sensor indicates the user is not gazing in the general direction of the visual display, while continuing to play audio content to the user through the audio display at a substantially unchanged power level.

A digital camera accessory is provided for use with a game system having a processing system to execute a video game program and player controls operable by a user to generate video game control signals. The digital camera accessory includes an image sensor for capturing video images, communication circuitry configured to transmit the captured video images, and a connector that, in use, electrically connects the digital camera accessory to the game system.
