A coating method that is capable of rapid curtain coating without causing "sagging" at high flow rates exceeding 4 cm 3 /cm.sec. One or more layers of a coating solution are formed on a sliding surface, and a free falling curtain of the coating solution is allowed to impinge against a continuously running web. The web has a surface roughness of at least 0.3 μm, the tip of the sliding surface forms an angle of 45° to 120° with respect to the horizontal, and the viscosity of the coating solution is adjusted to at least 90 cps for low shear rate, with the average for all layers formed being at least 80 cps.

PURPOSE:To obtain the title gelatinizing agent providing an aqueous gel such as transparent gelatinous aromatic, gelatinous insecticide or gelatinous pet repellent, having stability in a wide temperature range, comprising a reaction product of gelatin, etc., and an olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer. CONSTITUTION:The aimed gelatinizing agent comprising a reaction product of gelatin or collagen and an olefin-maleic anhydride copolymer. The gelatin, etc., has preferably at least one free amino group and preferably 5,000-20,000 molecular weight. The copolymer has preferably 3,000-100,000 molecular weight.

Aqueous gelatinizing agent and aqueous gel

A multi-layer light-sensitive photographic material comprising a support and a light-sensitive layer, which have a surface layer which does not adhere even under a high temperature and high humidity conditions when the front surface layer thereof is contacted with the other surface layer and which is hardly subject to scratching and free from the so-called "blooming" phenomenon. The light-sensitive material according to this invention comprises, in at least one of the front and back sides thereof, at least one light-insensitive layer containing a high polymer having at least 20% by weight of a repeating unit represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and R2 represents a straight chain alkyl group having 12 to 24 carbon atoms.

Light-sensitive photographic material

PURPOSE:To provide such a hand-coating photographic emulsion that is preventing gelatin from rotting due to a secular change and uniformly appliable by containing a specific compound in the gelatine as much as 0.25-5.0wt.%, and regulating viscosity at a temperature of 40 deg.C to 15-35cps with a water-soluble thickener. CONSTITUTION:At least one of the compounds expressed in formulas I and II is contained in solid gelatin as much as 0.25-5.9wt.%, and further a water-soluble thickener is contained, setting viscosity at 40 deg.C to 15-35cps. R1 in the formula I shows a hydrogen atom or alkyl group, R2-R4 show each of these hydrogen atom, halogen atom, alkyl group, etc. R2 in the formula II shows the alkyl group of carbon numbers from 1 to 5. In this connection, as for the water-soluble thickener, sodium polystyrenesulfonate is desirable to use, and the amount of its uses is also desirable to be such that viscosity in a photographic emulsion completed at a temperature of 40 deg.C is regulated to 20-33cps.
