Disclosed is an image processing device provided with: a shape determining unit which determines, by using shape determining information for determining the shape of the block in accordance with the size of the block, the shape of a block to be set within an image; a motion vector setting unit which disposes a prediction unit for each block within the image in accordance with the shape determined by means of the shape determining unit and which sets the motion vector to be used in predicting the image within the prediction unit for each disposed prediction unit; and an encoding unit which encodes the image by using the motion vector set by means of the motion vector setting unit.

To provide a lane recognition system which can improve the lane recognition accuracy by suppressing noises that are likely to be generated respectively in an original image and a bird's-eye image. The lane recognition system recognizes a lane based on an image. The system includes: a synthesized bird's-eye image creation module which creates a synthesized bird's-eye image by connecting a plurality of bird's-eye images that are obtained by transforming respective partial regions of original images picked up at a plurality of different times into bird's-eye images; a lane line candidate extraction module which detects a lane line candidate by using information of the original images or the bird's-eye images created from the original images, and the synthesized bird's-eye image; and a lane line position estimation module which estimates a lane line position based on information of the lane line candidate.

An in-vehicle, white line recognition apparatus is disclosed. Form an image captured by a camera, the apparatus extracts multiple white line candidates including a first white line candidate and a second white line candidate. The apparatus calculates a certainty factor of each white line candidate, the certainty factor indicating a degree of certainty that the each white line candidate represents the white line. When the first and second white line candidates are, within a predetermined range and when a ratio of contrast of the first white line candidate to that of the second white line candidate is less than a predetermined value, the apparatus decreases the certainty factor of the first white line candidate.

In-vehicle white line recognition apparatus

In an apparatus for controlling a vehicle to track another vehicle, a controller causes the controlled vehicle to track one of other vehicles as a target vehicle if one of the other vehicles meets a target-vehicle selecting condition. The target-vehicle selecting condition is required for selecting one of the other vehicles as the target vehicle. The controller recognizes an environment of a predicted travel road on which the controlled vehicle is predicted to travel using conditions of the predicted travel lane. The controller determines whether the predicted travel road allows lane changes based on the recognized environment of the predicted travel road. The controller adjusts the target-vehicle selecting condition based on a result of the determination.

SOLUTION: The running road recognition device 2 includes a white line detection ECU 6 for detecting a lane boundary (a white line) in a multiplex division line, based on the picked-up image of the multiplex division line in front of a vehicle. The storage part 16 of the white line detection ECU 6 previously stores a plurality of patterns for collation including: a template being information of the combination (the number and thickness of the lines) of respective marking lines which constitute the multiplex division line; and lane type information being information of the lane types (a solid line and a dashed line) of the respective marking lines. The white line detection ECU 6 extracts the multiplex division line from the picked-up image of the multiplex division line, determines the line type of each marking line constituting the multiplex division line, based on the extraction, determines whether a section is the section of the multiplex division line or not, collates the results with the patterns for collation, and then, identifies the type of multiplex division line. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake control system that prevents shortage of negative pressure supplied to a brake booster when the start of an internal combustion engine has failed in coasting mode.SOLUTION: The brake control system includes: an internal combustion engine; a brake booster that is operated by negative pressure supplied; a passage for supplying the intake negative pressure of the internal combustion engine to the brake booster; a negative pressure pump that is driven by power transmitted from wheels of a vehicle, generates the negative pressure, and supplies the generated negative pressure to the brake booster; and a pressure storage device that stores the negative pressure and supplies the stored negative pressure to the brake booster. When the negative pressure of the passage is reduced in the coasting mode in which the internal combustion engine is stopped and the vehicle runs by inertia (S10-Y) and when the negative pressure pump cannot generate the negative pressure appropriately (S20-Y) and the internal combustion engine cannot be started (S30-Y), the negative pressure stored in the pressure storage device is supplied to the brake booster (S80).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a symptom inference device that can infer a physiological symptom that gives uncomfortable feeling to a driver in a prior stage that leads to a dangerous driving state or the like. SOLUTION: The symptom inference device has an image pickup device, a face data generation means, and an inference means. The image pickup device captures images in the direction of the driver seat from the front of the driver seat. The face data generation means detects the state of the driver's face using the images captured by the image pickup device and generates face data that show the state of the face. The inference device presumes the physiological symptom which gives uncomfortable feeling to the driver in a prior stage that leads to a dangerous driving state or the like. Symptom inference device

A problem to be solved is that the driver is likely to have a feeling of strangeness in response to deceleration accompanied with power generation by an alternator. A target value of deceleration by the alternator during an inertial drive of a vehicle is determined, based on the speed of the vehicle (step S100). The deceleration by the alternator is then made closer to the determined target value (steps S200 to S400).
