Docket No. R0986-023 MAGNETIC DISK DRIVE WITH LOW PROFILE HEAD-SUSPENSION SYSTEM ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The magnetic data storage system includes a magnetic transducer head-suspension assembly with an inline suspension slider with a reduced height leading portion that provides for gimballed connection to the suspension load beam and a full height rear portion that enables the use of the increased height portion for the transducer coil windings. The suspension includes a single piece combined gram form and load beam with the entire head-suspension assembly being contained within the height of the slider full height portion to enable minimization of the head-suspension overall height required in magnetic-disk drives with closely spaced disks and back to back transducer heads or minimum height head-suspension assemblies that extend between disk surfaces.

Magnetic disk drive with low profile head-suspension system

A disk drive includes a disk drive base, a spindle motor, a first disk and a disk clamp. The rotary hub of the spindle motor includes a generally cylindrically-shaped hub wall and a hub flange including an inner annular surface adjacent to the hub wall, an outer annular surface and a flange land portion integrally formed with the hub flange. The land portion is positioned between the annular surfaces and defines a disk contact surface projecting above the annular surfaces, the disk contact surface being substantially centered on the hub flange. The first disk is supported by the disk contact surface to form a clearance between the annular surfaces and the first disk. A second disk may be coupled to the spindle motor and an annular disk spacer may be positioned between the disks. The annular disk spacer includes a first spacer surface facing the first disk and a second spacer surface facing the second disk. The first and second spacer surfaces each comprise an inner annular spacer surface adjacent to the hub wall, an outer annular spacer and a spacer land portion integrally formed with the spacer and positioned between the annular spacer surfaces to define a spacer-to-disk contact surface that projects from the annular spacer surfaces to form a clearance between a respective disk and respective annular surfaces. The disk clamp for applies a clamping force to the first and second disks that is substantially centered on each spacer-to-disk contact surface and on the disk contact surface.

Spindle motor flange land portion

PURPOSE: To provide a hot and cold water mixing device capable of supplying hot water at a predetermined time by providing a hot and cold water mixing valve which regulates the mixing ratio of hot and cold water, controller which controls by opening and closing a flow rate control valve at a fixed hot water supply time to a predetermined object to be supplied with hot water, and a change-over control means which changes over a change- over valve to a predetermined object to be supplied with hot water at a fixed hot water supply time. CONSTITUTION: A hot and cold water mixture which was mixed in a ratio regulated by a control valve 10 is detected by a thermistor 25 for its temperature and its flow rate is detected by a flow rate sensor 26. According to signals from those sensors and a signal of a setting device 28, a motor 19 on the hot water side and a motor 20 on the water side are controlled by a controller 27. The setting means 28 is provided with a switch 29 which conducts supply of hot and cold water mixture by a predetermined cold and hot water mixture temperature and its flow rate and the counted value of the flow rates, a time control starting switch 34 and a time regulating setting section 35, and it is possible to set the value at the time of operating the switch 29 and the value of fixed time hot water supply by a presetter 37, and the setting means 28 is provided with a change-over switch 28, and it is possible to change over the mixture hot gas supplied via a mixture hot water flow passage 42 to a discharge opening 40 to the bath tub or to a shower 41 by means of a change-over valve 39. Hot and cold water mixing device

A magnetic head for recording information on a recording disk which has a head body that has a sliding sole which contacts the recording disk. The head body is supported by a three-piece leaf spring which has one end connected to a support and the other end connected to the head body. The support member includes a stopper which engages the end of the second portion of the leaf spring so as to control the position of the head body.

A pump that is in essence leak-proof and prevents the escape to ambient atmosphere of environmentally hazardous fluent materials is comprised of an outlet block defining a pump chamber having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, a piston having one end reciprocable within the pump chamber and sealed to the outlet block, a piston rod connected to the other end of the piston for reciprocating the piston, a dynamic block secured to the outlet block and defining a sealed dynamic chamber within which the other end of the piston reciprocates, and an outlet from the dynamic chamber in continuous closed-circuit communication with a recirculating system for preventing escape into the environment of any fluent material that may leak past the piston seal. The pump also includes an articulated seal for sealing the piston rod to the dynamic chamber to maintain the sealed integrity of the chamber while at the same time accommodating reciprocation of the piston rod. In a preferred embodiment, two pumps are operated alternately by a reciprocating fluid motor, a common manifold provides for delivery of fluent material to the inlets of both pumps, and the dynamic chamber outlets are in closed-circuit communication with one another so that fluent material can course back and forth between the two chambers without impeding operation of the pumps.

Piston pump for fluent materials

PURPOSE:To prevent rolling of a magnetic head, by constituting the position of center of gravity of magnetic head slider is within the plane of a plate spring. CONSTITUTION:A balancing weight 8 is fitted to the magnetic head slider 1 fitted to the tip of a suspension plate spring 2. The position of the center of weight due to the sum of the balancing weight 8 and the magnetic head slider 1 is at the position indicated by a number 4, that is, within the plane of the suspension plate spring 2. Thus, the direction H' toward the inertia due to the seek operation and the seek direction H are in the same plane, and the magnetic head slider 1 is sought without rolling. Then, highly long life and high durability of the magnetic disc and magnetic head slider 1 at highly frequent seek operation are realized.

Suspension mechanism of magnetic head

PURPOSE:To obtain a fluid throttle valve with a simple mechanism, high reliability, durability and low cost, by adjusting the setting length of the coil spring installed in the flow passage of fluid with an adjusting mechanism. CONSTITUTION:The fluid flows into the inner side of the coil spring from the opening 2c of the spring seat 2b provided to the adjusting screw body 2 as shown in arrow mark B, flows on the outer side of the spring throuth the gap of the coil spring 3, discharged into the opening 1c of the spring seat 1b provided to the fluid throttle valve body 1. A passage for above function is formed, and a passage to flow reversely to above mention is formed as shown in arrow mark c. Consequently, the adjusting screw body 2 is turned to the fluid throttle valve body 1, the coil spring 3 changes the setting length of the spring, that is, the gap of the spring, the flow to run through it is changed to take place the valve function.

Air pressure pump

PURPOSE:To prevent faulty operation on bistable hydraulic cylinder by providing its operation chamber with a bypass for leaking fluid. CONSTITUTION:Presence of a piston 3 in a position identified by a solid line, namely in the non-operating position, tends to admit hydraulic pressure into a cylinder 2 through an inlet 1, but the pressure flow is obstructed by the piston 3 acting as a working valve, retaining the said piston in the non-operating position. In this instance, leakage of hydraulic pressure into the operating chamber 7 through an opening between the cylinder 2 and the piston 3 tends to drive the piston 3 into the operating position, but fluid having leaked into the operating chamber 7 is released outside via a passage 5 provided in the chamber to bypass leaking fluid. Consequently, pressure in the chamber remains unchanged, thereby precluding a possibility of erroneous shifting the piston 3 from the non-operating to the operating position.

Bistable hydraulic cylinder

PURPOSE:To uniform the temperature distribution in a module and to decrease thermal off-track, by providing a cooling fin near a driving mechanism positioning a magnetic head and blowing out air flow to the module through the rotation of the magnetic disc. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic disc 10, a magnetic head holding arm 40 having the said magnetic head 20 at one end and a pivot mechanism 30 at another end, a magnetic head positioning mechanism 60, and a moduled temperature balancing mechanism (cooling fin) 80 dissipating the thermal energy of the mechanism 60 are fitted on a magnetic disc device main body 100. The fin 80 is fixed to a position near the mechanism 60, and when the disc 10 turns toward the arrow A, an air flow produced to the direction B blows on the fin 80 and is circulated, after the flow absorbs the thermal energy and is delivered on the disc 10.
