Estimation of the worldwide seroprevalence of cytomegalovirus: A systematic review and meta‐analysis
Mohamed Zuhair,G. Suzanne A. Smit,G. Suzanne A. Smit,G. Suzanne A. Smit,Gabriel Wallis,Faiz Jabbar,Colette Smith,Brecht Devleesschauwer,Paul D. Griffiths +8 more
TL;DR: Estimates of the worldwide CMV distribution will help develop national and regional burden of disease models and inform future vaccine development efforts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cytomegalovirus viral load parameters associated with earlier initiation of pre-emptive therapy after solid organ transplantation.
Sheila F Lumley,Cameron Green,Hannah Rafferty,Colette Smith,Mark Harber,James O'Beirne,Gareth Jones,Douglas Thorburn,Aileen Marshall,Tina Shah,Mohamed Zuhair,Emily Rothwell,Sowsan Atabani,Tanzina Haque,Paul D. Griffiths +14 more
TL;DR: Pre-emptive therapy initiated at the first sign of viraemia post-transplant significantly reduced the peak viral load but increased later episodes of virAemia, consistent with the hypothesis of reduced antigenic stimulation of the immune system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sex is a major effect modifier between body composition and mortality in patients with cirrhosis assessed for liver transplantation
Amine Benmassaoud,Davide Roccarina,Francesco Arico,Cilla Marta,Rossella Donghia,Gioacchino Leandro,Laura Iogna Prat,Mohamed Zuhair,Matthew North,Orla Kearney,John Ryan,Emmanuel Tsochatzis +11 more
TL;DR: This study demonstrates that male patients were susceptible to low muscle mass, while female patients were not, and adipose tissue (TATI or VATI depending on the multivariable model) were independently associated with mortality whereas sarcopenia and malnutrition were not.
Journal ArticleDOI
