Journal ArticleDOI
Determination of pyrrolizidine alkaloids in tea, herbal drugs and honey
Dorina Bodi,Stefan Ronczka,Christoph Gottschalk,Nastassja Behr,Anne Skibba,Matthias Wagner,Monika Lahrssen-Wiederholt,Angelika Preiss-Weigert,Anja These +8 more
TL;DR: Results suggest that PA in tea samples are most likely a contamination caused by co-harvesting of PA-producing plants, in some cases such as fennel, anise or caraway, it cannot be excluded that these plants are able to produce PA themselves.
Journal ArticleDOI
Absorption, Distribution, and Milk Secretion of the Perfluoroalkyl Acids PFBS, PFHxS, PFOS, and PFOA by Dairy Cows Fed Naturally Contaminated Feed
J. Kowalczyk,S. Ehlers,Anja Oberhausen,Marion Tischer,Peter Fürst,Helmut Schafft,Monika Lahrssen-Wiederholt +6 more
TL;DR: The very low concentration of PFBS in plasma and milk, the relatively high urinary excretion, and only traces ofPFBS in liver and kidney support the conclusion that PFBS does not accumulate in the body of dairy cows.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transfer of Perfluorooctanoic Acid (PFOA) and Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) From Contaminated Feed Into Milk and Meat of Sheep: Pilot Study
TL;DR: Overall, total excretion of PFOS was significantly lower compared with that of PFOA (PFOS 6 %; P FOA 53 to 56 %).
Journal ArticleDOI
The role of dietary selenium in bovine mammary gland health and immune function.
S. Salman,A. Khol-Parisini,Helmut Schafft,Monika Lahrssen-Wiederholt,Howard W. Hulan,D. Dinse,J. Zentek +6 more
TL;DR: An overview of the most recent research on the effect of selenium (Se) on the immune function of the mammary gland and subsequent improvement in bovine udder health and mastitis control is provided.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural screening by multiple reaction monitoring as a new approach for tandem mass spectrometry: presented for the determination of pyrrolizidine alkaloids in plants
TL;DR: A method was developed which screens for pyrrolizidine alkaloid structures by MRM transitions and allows the detection of each individual PA down to a low microgram per kilogram concentration range and for the first time complete PA profiles of different PA plants were delivered.
