Effect of resilient modulus of undisturbed subgrade soils on pavement rutting

TL;DR: In this paper, the results from a test program to characterise resilient modulus (M R ) of subgrade soils for different geographic regions in South Carolina were presented, and the results of the test program were used to evaluate the resilience of the Shelby tube sample.
Journal ArticleDOI

Pavement performance evaluation models for South Carolina

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed pavement performance evaluation models using data from primary and interstate highway systems in the state of South Carolina, USA using regression techniques, which include 4 for Asphalt Concrete (AC) pavements and 4 for Jointed Plain Concrete Pavements (JPCP).
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of System Dynamic Approaches to Airport Pavements Maintenance

TL;DR: Using a system dynamic concept, this paper developed two approaches for the first time: (1) the PCI approach, where a specific maintenance treatment is applied when the pavement condition index (PCI) value of a pavement section reaches a minimum defined value; and (2) the combined PCI-SCI approach, which applies when either the PCI or the SCI reached a minimum value.
Journal ArticleDOI

Data collection experience for preliminary calibration of the AASHTO pavement design guide for flexible pavements in South Carolina

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify existing historical data (i.e., climate, traffic, pavement design information, material properties, and pavement performance) within the South Carolina Department of Transportation for use in the local calibration of the Mechanistic Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) for South Carolina.
Journal ArticleDOI

Field and Laboratory Characterization of Subgrade Resilient Modulus for Pavement Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide Application:

TL;DR: The resilient modulus (MR) of subgrade material is an important parameter in pavement design using the Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG) and has a significant influence on pavemen.
