The invention concerns an auxiliary power unit using compressed air for energy and equipped with a motor alternator driving, or being driven by a motor compressor with compressed air which compresses air under high pressure in a high pressure storage tank and which when there is a power cut automatically drives the motor compressor in alternating mode to supply electricity. The invention is applicable to fixed or mobile auxiliary power units.

The emergency generator unit uses compressed air to drive an air motor which in turn drives an alternator. The supply of compressed air is delivered automatically to the motor (5) when the mains power supply fails. The alternator (1) can act as a motor, driving the air motor in compressor mode to replenish the compressed air storage (6) when the mains supply is available.

Combined heating and emergency current appts. for buildings comprises a gas heater, gas engine, generator, gas compressor, and heating bodies (convectors, heat exchangers) such that a closed gas (air) circuit is formed between the heaters, motor, cooler and compressor. The motor drives the emergency current generator and compressor. The cooler acts directly as a space heater and/or water heater for a hot water supply. The motor and compressor have high-r.p.m. rotors on the volumetric displacement principle, and are rigidly intercoupled together. The appts. does not pollute the atmos. and can be driven with given energy sources.
