Working from home during the corona pandemic: Investigating the role of authentic leadership, psychological capital, and gender on employee performance

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in restrictions on activities involving physical contact, such as working. Indonesia began to apply the system of work from home (WfH) to minimize the spread risk of COVID-19 in March 2020. This research is aimed at finding out the coverage of WfH, mapping changes of workplace, identifying the use of ICT to support WfH, and analyzing the concept of workplace and work systems in future cities. The method used in this research is qualitative and quantitative. A questionnaire (Google Form) was sent to different WhatsApp groups whose members are experts in urban and regional planning, geography, the environment, smart cities, and IT, with total of 176 respondents. The focus group discussion conducted online focused on the use of ICT to support WfH during the COVID-19 pandemic. The result of this research shows that even before the pandemic, both the government and private sectors had a plan to apply WfH. Because of the pandemic, it became the catalyst for the implementation of WfH. The implementation of WfH has changed workplace orientation. The use of ICT was a primary need in implementing WfH during the pandemic. However, the WfH system implemented in the government sector has not been integrated, and neither has the one in private sectors. WfH is seen to have been effective enough, but it still needs lots of support from many sectors. In the future, WfH can still be maintained, along with working from the office (WfO). The WfH concept is highly recommended for big cities because it can support reduced population mobilization, resulting in reduced congestion and movement costs, and improved efficiency of working time by reducing travel time. On the other hand, it can help in the matter of limited of space that office buildings provide.

“New normal” at work in a post-COVID world: work–life balance and labor markets

The purpose of this study is to explore to what extent employees' mental well-being affects their productivity while working from home (WFH) during the COVID-19 crisis and whether mental well-being and productivity differ across some socio-demographic factors,A cross-sectional study with online questionnaires was designed with 472 valid responses in Indonesia Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale (DASS-21) and Individual Work Performance Questionnaire (IWPQ) were administered Non-parametric tests and structural equation modeling were employed to analyze the data,The prevalence of depression was 184%, anxiety 464% and stress 131%, with relatively good productivity Gender, age, education level, job experiences, marital status, number of children and nature of the organization were associated with the employees' psychological health but not with their productivity, while the workspace availability influenced both outcomes The study path model showed the negative correlation between WFH employees' psychological well-being and productivity,This study may contribute to the implication of current mandatory WFH on mental well-being and productivity Further studies need to address the representativeness and generalizability issues as well as incorporating potential stressors,Organizations may adopt WFH as a future working arrangement and identify the individual and occupational characteristics that provide the most impacts on productivity It is also necessary for them to develop proper strategies to mitigate the psychological risks and overcome the WFH challenges,There is still a lack of studies investigating the relationship between simultaneous effects of WFH on psychological well-being and productivity, and how they affect some socio-demographic variables in the context of COVID-19

Work from home: Indonesian employees' mental well-being and productivity during the COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract This study investigates the socio‐demographic factors and work from home challenges associated with job satisfaction and work performance. Using a cross‐sectional survey design and convenience sampling, data from 482 Indonesian employees were gathered via a web‐based questionnaire. Bivariate analysis was used to assess job satisfaction and work performance differences across several socio‐demographic factors. Hierarchical linear regression was performed to identify the contribution of socio‐demographic factors and work from home challenges on job satisfaction and work performance. All work from home challenges, with the exception of social isolation, linked significantly to job satisfaction and work performance. However, no significant differences in job satisfaction and work performance were found across most socio‐demographic factors. Our final model suggests that, after controlling socio‐demographic and work from home challenges, the length of employment and job satisfaction were the most significant determinants of work performance. This study provides insights for organizations wishing to raise employees’ satisfaction, and maximize the benefits gained by addressing work from home challenges, by improving some of the less favorable work from home practices of the past.

Factors and challenges influencing work‐related outcomes of the enforced work from home during the COVID‐19 pandemic: Preliminary evidence from Indonesia

COVID-19 attacks have changed the methods and cultures of work in many organizations, the working from home (WFH) phenomenon as an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in many countries in the world has impacts on employee productivity. This study aims to explore the impacts of working from home on employee productivity with a qualitative approach. The findings explain that working from home has provided advantages and disadvantages both for employee and organization as well as being responsible for the decline in employee productivity. Furthermore, we also find the fact that working from home cannot be generally accepted since many areas of work cannot be carried out from home, although for many employees, working from home has provided a work-life balance. Yet, this is sometimes interrupted by multiple jobs (multitasking) that must be done at home.

Working From Home Phenomenon As an Effort to Prevent COVID-19 Attacks and Its Impacts on Work Productivity

COVID-19 pandemic has surprised many organizations, this condition has an impact on changing the work culture of organizations. The role of information technology has proven to be the chosen solution for maintaining organizational performance. The main objective of this study is to explore the challenges and opportunities for e-leadership. The main focus of the study is directed at educational organizations and small and medium enterprises in Indonesia. A qualitative approach is used to interview informants scattered in several regions in Indonesia by information technology mediation. An important finding in this paper is that many organizations are not ready to face this condition so that the role of e-leadership is very effective for organizations to maintain the organizations performance and leaders can change their leadership style through social learning and overcome the challenges they must face to become e-leader. In addition, we also find that female leaders tend to be superior to men as e-leader, especially in terms of information technology skills and the use of social media. This paper concludes that e-leadership can be created by leaders who can overcome challenges and seize opportunities to build competitive advantage strategies.

Secara konstitusional UUD 1945 dalam Pasal 33 ayat (3) yang menyatakan bahwa” Bumi, air, ruang angkasa serta kekayaan yang terkandung didalamnya dikuasai oleh Negara dan dipergunakan sebesar-besar kemakmuran rakyat” ini jelas bahwa yang di maksud pada pasal 33 UUD 1945 adalah kemakmuran rakyatlah yang utamakan dalam pemanfaatan sumber daya alam yang ada (Bumi, air dan ruang angkasa serta kekayaan yang terkandung didalamnya), dalam melaksanakan hal tersebut dibidang pertanahan dikeluarkan UUPA. Bayak permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan tanah, timbul oleh karena mengingat bahwa tanah merupakan suatu kebutuhan manusia yang tidak terlepas dari kebutuhan-kebutuhan lainya, serta memiliki nilai ekonomis atau nilai jual yang cukup tinggi. Permasalahan tanah yang sering terjadi ada kaitannya dengan legalitas atau bukti kepemilikan sebut saja sertipikat. BPN merupakan badan yang bertanggung jawab dan diberi wewenang untuk menerbitkan dan membatalkan sertipikat. Banyak putusan pengadilan khususnya Pengadilan TUN yang dengan jelas memutuskan pembatalan sertipikat, namun pelaksanaannya belum dilaksanakan. Untuk itu dengan dilatar belakangi permasalahan ini maka penulis tergerak untuk menulis skripsi yang berjudul: “Tanggung Jawab BPN Terhadap Sertipikat Yang Dibatalkan PTUN”

Bangsa Indonesia patut berbahagia karena pada tanggal 22 September 2004 pemerintah mengundangkan Undang-Undang Nomor 23 Tahun 2004 tentang Penghapusan Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga (UU PKDRT), yang diharapkan dapat dijadikan sebagai perangkat hukum yang memadai, yang didalamnya antara lain mengatur mengenai pencegahan, perlindungan terhadap korban, dan penindakan terhadap pelaku KDRT, dengan tetap menjaga keutuhan demi keharmonisan keluarga. Secara umum Undang-Undang ini menjelaskan bahwa setiap warga negara berhak mendapatkan rasa aman dan bebas dari segala bentuk kekerasan sesuai dengan falsafah Pancasila dan Undang-Undang Dasar 1945. Apa yang sesungguhnya ingin dicapai oleh undang-Undang ini adalah meminimalisir tindak pidana KDRT dan pada akhirnya adalah terwujudnya posisi yang sama dan sederajat di antara sesama anggota keluarga
