Technology-facilitated abuse, so-called “tech abuse,” through phones, trackers, and other emerging innovations, has a substantial impact on the nature of intimate partner violence (IPV). The current chapter examines the risks and harms posed to IPV victims/survivors from the burgeoning Internet of Things (IoT) environment. IoT systems are understood as “smart” devices such as conventional household appliances that are connected to the internet. Interdependencies between different products together with the devices' enhanced functionalities offer opportunities for coercion and control. Across the chapter, we use the example of IoT to showcase how and why tech abuse is a socio-technological issue and requires not only human-centered (i.e., societal) but also cybersecurity (i.e., technical) responses. We apply the method of “threat modeling,” which is a process used to investigate potential cybersecurity attacks, to shift the conventional technical focus from the risks to systems toward risks to people. Through the analysis of a smart lock, we highlight insufficiently designed IoT privacy and security features and uncover how seemingly neutral design decisions can constrain, shape, and facilitate coercive and controlling behaviors.

Home-automation is one of the most desired features in a smart home. In spite of so many features in a smart home, there is dearth for a cutting-edge smart lock which is sophisticated, secure and economical. In this paper, we have come up with the idea of designing a smart lock which is really “smart” and “secure”. What puts this smart lock a cut above the rest is its guest mode feature. This feature enables the important guests of the administrator to access the smart lock even when they aren't able to contact the administrator. This lock can be built by using simple components like Arduino Uno, Wi-Fi module, Bluetooth module, Fingerprint sensor.

iLock: State-of-the-art Sophisticated Door Lock for Wireless Devices

Nowadays the use of Internet of Things (IoT) technology has developed that almost all aspects in human's life utilize IoT technology to increase the quality of life. Lock system is one of those aspects that has been impacted by the massive development of IoT, for example lock system that can be opened or closed by entering the password or by gadget to control it. The main component of smart home concept lays on the door, so the door lock system becomes an interesting topic to discuss. The paper presents a design of lock system for operating door without a control to open or lock it that brings a comfort and can be applied effectively. Besides, the lock system can be used for all kinds of human's physical condition. The system uses bluetooth technology with low power and is available on almost all gadgets. The design of the system is also completed with special feature to increase the security and the comfort of the users. The lock system indirectly supports the program of United Convention of Right People with Disabilities.

Design of smart lock system for doors with special features using bluetooth technology

Penjualan tiket pesawat terkadang mengalami kenaikan atau penurunan sehingga diperlukan data prediksi yang akurat sebagai bahan pengambilan keputusan manajemen. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui metode prediksi yang memiliki nilai persentase kesalahan terkecil dalam memprediksi penjualan tiket pesawat pada studi kasus di PT. Perintis 77 Tours and Travel. Metode prediksi yang diuji adalah metode Semi Average dan metode Least Squared menggunakan data penjualan 1038 dengan periode penjualan Januari 2016 sampai September 2017. Data prediksi dari kedua metode tersebut dibandingkan dengan data periode penjualan asli pada bulan tersebut. Oktober 2017 hingga Desember 2017 menggunakan metode Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) untuk melihat nilai persentase kesalahan setiap metode. Hasil yang diperoleh adalah metode Semi Average dengan nilai rata-rata MAPE dalam memprediksi periode penjualan dari Oktober 2017 sampai Desember 2017 sebesar 27%, sedangkan untuk metode Least Squared dengan periode penjualan yang sama sebesar 21,6% sehingga dapat membuktikan bahwa metode prediksi memiliki nilai persentase kesalahan terkecil dalam memprediksi penjualan tiket pesawat pada studi kasus di PT. Perintis 77 Tours and Travel merupakan metode Least Squared dengan nilai MAPE sebesar 21.6%.

Perbandingan Metode Semi Average dan Metode Least Squared Pada Prediksi Penjualan Tiket Pesawat

Three types of 6 monopoles array intelligent antennas was numerically and practically examined. The main purposes of the investigation is to guarantee that those designed antennas are feasible to implement and to install in a particular IoT based environmental surveillance network configuration. The basic differences of the three intelligent antennas lied on the frequency operations (i.e. 433 MHz, 875-915 MHz and 2.5 GHz) and the actual environment operations (whether for indoor or outdoor). The extreme differences of such frequency operations, of course, affecting the differences on the whole antenna physical dimension. The higher the frequency operation determined then the smaller the physical size of the designed antennas produced. However, the deep intelligent antenna evaluations presented in the paper is the one that operated on frequency band of 875 -915 MHz. The intelligent electronic part of six monopole wire elements arrayed on a circular ground plate was composed of LoRa chip module, Android Uno microcontroller, and the switching network part. The three parts determined whole antenna operation throughout the IoT network. The results of whole antenna examinations are thoroughly discussed in the paper.

6 Monopole Elements Array Intelligent Antennas for IoT Based Environmental Surveillance Network

The use of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) technology with Internet of Things (IoT) technology has been developed. Internet of Things (IoT) is a technology that enables control, communication and collaboration with various hardware devices over computer networks. The Internet of Things (IoT) has been a form of transformation and development of information technology and Internet networks. This article uses IoT-based environmental monitoring networks to monitor environmental safety in real time. The proposed WSN network is structured to allow continuous monitoring of environmental safety and environmental issues, such as: For example, the potential risk of fire or crime in the environment and many others. In practice, the WSN network consists of sensors and local servers connected via the Internet. The generated data comes from several electronic sensors, such as proximity sensors and fire sensors, all of which are connected to the local server via the gateway. A number of interesting experimental results, including the analysis of energy consumption, are discussed in detail.

Wireless Sensor Network Implementation for IoT-Based Environmental Security Monitoring

Pemilihan modul yang tepat merupakan salah satu aspek agar Internet of Things dapat berjalan dengan baik. Maka dari itu paper ini membahas modul ESP32 dalam hal menguji kinerja transfer data khusus melalui komunikasi Bluetooth 4.2. Metode pengujian menggunakan smartphone sebagai pengirim dan modul ESP32 sebagai penerima. Pengirim mengirimkan data dengan ukuran, interval, dan jarak yang berbeda-beda dengan kondisi lingkungan line of sight kepada penerima sebanyak 30 kali setiap sesinya. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa modul ESP32 dapat menerima data sejauh 25 meter dengan ukuran yang berbeda-beda serta presentase data yang diterima juga berbeda-beda. Kesimpulan dari paper ini adalah pengiriman data melalui komunikasi Bluetooth dengan ukuran paket data sama dengan dibawah 10 bytes , Interval sama dengan diatas 100 mili detik hingga jarak sama dengan kurang dari 25 meter menggunakan modul ESP32 adalah pilihan yang tepat karena presentase data yang diterima mencapai 100%.
