In this paper, a triple band very compact asymmetric monopole antenna with an electrically coupled split ring resonator (SRR) is presented. The operating frequencies cover the worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), wireless local area network (WLAN), and Tagometry (Telemetry using RFID) applications. The asymmetric monopole is fed by a microstrip line, whereas the SRR is inductively coupled with the radiating element which gave triple band of resonances. The electric field-coupled SRR yields its resonance at 3.37 GHz in addition to the fundamental wideband resonances obtained by the asymmetric monopole. The simulated operating bands 3.37 GHz, 5.62 GHz, 8.26 GHz are suitable for WiMAX, WLAN and RFID Tagometry bands respectively. The proposed antenna has a very compact size of 12 × 15 × 1.6 mm3 with FR4 substrate. Very good 50 ohm impedance matching of the antenna for all three resonances by getting S11 as −38.5 dB, −39.9 dB, −30.7dB for corresponding three resonance frequencies respectively. Good impedance bandwidth achieved for third resonance 13.74% and desired radiation characteristics of antenna obtained which can use for above noted three applications. The antenna simulations and parametric studies have been done using CST Microwave Studio.

A triple band compact asymmetric monopole-SRR based antenna for Wi-Max, WLAN and RFID applications

In this paper, we presented simulation and experimental results of coplanar patch antennas (CPAs) at Ka-band for millimeter-wave application. The antennas were developed based on a new concept of "coplanar patch." Coplanar patch antenna consists of a patch surrounded by closely spaced ground conductor and a coplanar waveguide feed line, which has a similar geometric configuration as the loop slot antenna but different behavior. Simulation have been done by using a method of moment based commercial package, IE3D. Ka-band coplanar patch antennas were designed and fabricated on a substrate with dielectric constant of 2.17 and thickness of 0.254 mm. Return loss, gain and radiaion patterns were measured. The simulation and measured results demonstrated the performance and the usefulness of the coplanar patch antennas. Similarity of the microstrip patch antenna and coplanar patch antenna, and some design rules for the patch have been also discussed.

Coplanar patch antennas at Ka-band

This paper presents a CPW fed wideband planar antenna for Wireless application. The antenna proposed here is designed using FR4 epoxy substrate with dielectric constant 4.4 and has an overall dimension of 25mmx35.5mmx1.6mm. The antenna exhibit resonance at 5.8 GHz with impedance band width 3.45GHz from 3.8GHz 7.25GHz(return loss>-10dB) which is used for IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/HYPERLAN2 and RFID applications. The fundamental antenna parameters such as return loss, gain, VSWR are obtained and all met standard values. The designed structure is simulated using Electromagnetic Simulator ANSYSHFSS.

CPW Fed Monopole Antenna with Trapezoidal ground plane for Wide Band Application

A wide band CPW fed antenna for wireless communication applications such as WLAN (5.2 GHz) and RFID (5.8 GHz), is presented in this paper. The antenna consist of finite substrate dimensions (20×15 mm 2 ).This antenna is realized on FR4 epoxy substrate with permittivity 4.4 and loss tangent of 0.002.It has desired antenna characteristics such as return loss better than 10dB, VSWR, gain and radiation pattern at the specified resonant frequencies. The B.W of antenna (1130 MHz) is greatly improved by optimizing the width and length of the slots. The antenna is simulated using Mentor Graphics IE3D 15.10 electromagnetic solver and fabricated. There is good matching between measured and simulated results.
