Resource allocation for distributed cloud: concepts and research challenges

TL;DR: The main challenges inherent to the resource allocation process particular to distributed clouds are highlighted and categorized, offering a stepwise view of this process that covers the initial modeling phase through to the optimization phase.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Open Source Cloud Computing Platforms

TL;DR: This paper focuses on giving the reader an understanding of some major existing open cloud computing solutions – XCP, Eucalyptus and Open Nebula, hoping to leverage the cloud computing research area providing a good starting point to research groups and interested readers.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

A comparative analysis of AODV route recovery mechanisms in wireless Ad Hoc networks

TL;DR: Results are important to applications that tolerate few losses but are more restringent to delay and suggest that either one or another recovering mechanism may be used depending on the network parameters and user application information, instead of adopting a hybrid recovery implementation of both mechanisms.
Journal ArticleDOI

LatinCon05 - Comparative Analysis of AODV Route Recovery Mechanisms in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors investigated the behavior of the AODV routing protocol in situations of link failures due to the mobility of nodes in wireless ad hoc networks and compared the performance when the failure repair happens locally from the node before the link break to the case where the repair is performed from the source node for four metrics: throughput, overhead, average packet delivery delay and average hop count, the last being only used to validate throughput and delay analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improving AODV Route Recovery Mechanisms with Connectivity and Particle Swarm Optimization

TL;DR: In this paper, a new function for the Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) algorithm using the connectivity concept to decide between source and local repair when a link break occurs is proposed.
