Women security is need of the hour now-a-days. In India, there are many cases of women harassment and molestation. Safety of women matters let be whether at home, outdoor or it be their work place. The literature surveyed shows that there are many mobile applications that are used for women safety purpose. One recent research study shows that there is a footwear chip which is sticked to the footwear that gets activated when the person taps one leg behind the other 4 times. We focus on developing a prototype that is a smart band which gets activated by tapping on the screen twice. Once the device is activated it starts sending the GPS location to the ICE contacts and police control rooms. There is a pulse rate sensor embedded in the device that senses the pulse rate of the person and a temperature senor that senses body temperature of the person. The band when thrown with force the force sensor will get activated and sends the current location of the victim. A Piezo buzzer siren will get activated after 1–2 mins of the actual device getting turned on. The range of the buzzer is of 80–110 dB which can be heard from a distance of 50 feet long. An electric shock circuit is designed that emits electric current. On the top of the band screen there are two metal points that generates the shock when the two metal points come in contact with any surface or anybody. The device supports a micro usb charging. A smart application will be developed on the android platform which is connected with the device via bluetooth interface that shows the sensed data of the subject to the ICE contacts. Until the device is turned off it will send the location on the interval of 5 mins and will keep on beeping continuously.

The Personal Stun-A Smart Device For Women's Safety

Intimate partner violence (IPV) remains a scourge that compromises the rights of many women around the world, shaping an asymmetry in civil rights. Fighting gender-based violence, especially when it is committed by an intimate partner, is an important responsibility that needs to be addressed from all angles. It is also remarkable that our society is clearly conditioned by information and communication technology (ICT), which involves many aspects of our daily life. Unfortunately, violence that is performed in the real world is also replicated in this ‘virtual’ existence, by offenders in ICT contexts. On the other hand, the same technologies also provide a plethora of opportunities to fight IPV, which are enhanced by the innovative paradigm of the so-called Internet of Things (IoT). In this work, we first present a thorough compilation of ICT proposals already published—based on either hardware or software—aimed at protecting IPV survivors, and which can be applied in real life situations but also within social networks. The challenges that still lie ahead are highlighted and, a complete ICT-based platform for IPV management, within an IoT framework, that overcomes the limitations of previous works is proposed, and then promoting a symmetry between individuals in society.

Towards a Holistic ICT Platform for Protecting Intimate Partner Violence Survivors Based on the IoT Paradigm

The aim of this work is to develop a device for the safety and protection of women and girls. Indeed, even today, an evil break is made when ladies venture out with a niggling apprehension in their brains about their safety. We regularly find out about rape cases that make our blood run cold. It is a lamentable perception that there has been a significant increment in crimes against women in the previous decade. The reason can be credited to the time gap between the real time of the crime and its time of reporting to the ascendancy. In the event that by one way or another the unfortunate casualties could pass on their situation progressively, the issue can be repressed. In this project, we propose a device that sends SMS and area directions of the client to the relatives of the client or helpline number. In this system, we have used a GPS module to access location of user instantly. Three push buttons are implemented to define the types of an accident victim is facing. When the user faces any hassles in any place, it can push any of these three buttons. Then microcontroller will receive it and send an SMS to the specific phone number. The location of the user will be continuously traced until user switch off the system when rescued. In addition, to control the whole system we have used a PIC16F887A microcontroller powered by four AA batteries.

Design and Implementation of Women Auspice System by Utilizing GPS and GSM

Even in the twenty-first century, while people are debating over various reasons of assault, women from all walks of life are continuously being harassed and violated in the streets, public transportation and public spaces. The safety of women has become a progressively emphasized concern in Bangladesh also. Though a number of initiatives have been introduced by the government to keep the women safe, there is no or little Information and Communication Technology (ICT) based solution exist to ensure the woman's safety in the context of Bangladesh. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to design and develop a safety device called 'SafeBand' for women to fight against physical harassment. The 'SafeBand' system is comprised of a wearable band to be used by the victim, and two mobile applications to be used by the victim and by the police. Women can wear the device as a wristband or locket which will comprise of a button and a light. When the user (victim) presses the button, it identifies the location of the user through Global Positioning System (GPS) and sends a message incorporating the location to the nearest police station and previously saved contacts (number of relatives). An empirical study was carried out to evaluate the 'SafeBand' system, which was replicated with 15 participants. The study results show that the developed system is effective, efficient, useful and acceptable to all users.

SafeBand: A Wearable Device for the Safety of Women in Bangladesh

In the contemporary era, Now a days there is a surge in the crimes contra to the women. Women are obverse with molestation, sexual torment and acid assaults in the nonce civilization. There is no Impeccable system that ensures protection for the women. In this paper, a persuasive protection and alert framework for women has been evolved. The refined system assures a safeguard for women in the aspects of tracking, recording and self-defense. The smart women protection system is unified with Internet of things and open source technology to contribute favored ensue. The Raspberry Pi 3 and ESP8266 Wi-Fi device employed with modules aforementioned as fingerprint, GSM, GPS, camera, body sensors and Nerve simulator enhances to accomplishngly safeguard the women. The GSM, GPS, camera, fingerprint module and body sensors ensures the tracking and locating the women. The nerve simulator employs the job of self defense. In the case of troublesome situation, women in the equipped device ensures the fingerprint and then the GPS and GSM equipped with a microphone and speaker, camera and body sensors will be triggered and the location alerts will be directed to the corresponding persons and stats will be updated in the server also with the aid of nerve simulator an array of shocks can be remitted to the attacker. The developed framework insure that it immensely accomplishes its task in protecting a women in all the circumstances.

A Smart Women protection system using Internet of Things and Open Source Technology

In this paper, an attempt has been made to develop a smart device that can assist women when they feel unsafe. This smart device will be clipped to the footwear of the user and can be triggered discreetly. On tapping one foot behind the other four times, an alert is sent via Bluetooth Low Energy communication to an application on the victim's phone, programmed to generate a message seeking help with the location of the device attached. The results obtained were analysed using Naive Bayes classifier and this low cost device showed an overall accuracy of 97.5%.
