The system is configured to obtain cursor information that identifies a manner in which a cursor is moved relative to a display of a document; compare the cursor information to the first cursor sequence and the second cursor sequence; determine, based on a result of comparing the cursor information to the first cursor sequence and the second cursor sequence, that the hover event occurred when the cursor information more closely matches the first cursor sequence than the second cursor sequence; and perform an action based on determining that the hover event occurred.
