Computer modeling and simulations of physical processes play an important role in analysis of different physical and engineering phenomena including the dynamic characteristics of the semiconductor laser. In this paper we analyzed the dynamic behavior of a circular symmetric distributed feedback (CS-DFB) semiconductor laser formed in planar waveguide as a system formed of an optical resonator and an active medium. By using the finite element method we determined the confinement factor, the medium gain and the spontaneous emission factor for different lasing modes. It was found that the value of photon density and the time of oscillation depend mainly on the value on injection current, that of the confinement factor of a lasing mode and the order of the lasing mode. Also the results of this work showed that not all resonant frequencies correspond to the oscillation of the lasing modes.
