As the amount of information offered by information systems is increasing exponentially, the need of personalized approaches for information access increases. This work discusses user profiles designed for providing personalized information access. We first present a general classification of research directions on adaptive systems, followed by a state-of-the-art study about user profiling. We propose then a new classification approach of user profile model. This classification is based on the user dimensions considered to build the user profile.

Some time ago I gave a lecture entitled ""a concept of relevance"" to the students of the Ghana Library School, in which I tried to isolate some of the professional problems that face librarians here, and by extension all countries going through similar stages of development.

A concept of relevance

In this paper, we propose a mobility-aware scheme, named MobiPlace, to address the controller placement problem (CPP) at the Road Side Units (RSUs) in Software-Defined Vehicular Networks (SDVNs). MobiPlace places local controllers at the selected RSUs to reduce the operational delay experienced in traditional SDVN architecture, where controllers are placed at the cloud. Additionally, we consider the effect of dynamic road traffic and propose dynamic adjustment of the placement of the controller with minimal changes. In contrast to the existing literature, we infuse traffic monitoring and traffic prediction strategies to ensure accurate delivery of control messages and data packets. We formulate an Integer Linear Program (ILP) and propose a solution approach consisting of three modules —  mobility management , controller placement , and controller selection . The mobility management module uses Markov predictor to predict vehicle movement and reduce controller synchronization overhead when a vehicle moves to a different controller's coverage area. The controller placement module applies a simulated annealing-based algorithm to select potential RSUs that serve as local controllers. The controller selection module determines the preferable controller location for processing the service requests. Simulation results depict that MobiPlace reduces the average flow setup delay by $13.85 \%$ compared to the existing state-of-the-art.

MobiPlace: Mobility-Aware Controller Placement in Software-Defined Vehicular Networks

Background/Objectives: Application of pervasive computation in healthcare is an interdisciplinary research domain for both the medical and computer domains. Such systems provide support to remote patients and to disaster affected people. Methods/Statistical Analysis: This paper calculates percentage of contribution of various methodologies which have been described in this whole paper. Along with this it has presented comparative analysis of the surveyed algorithms based on their important features. Findings: The literature studies in this field are found to concentrate on specific applications of pervasive healthcare, such as remote patient monitoring, fall detection, etc. In this paper, we exhibit a descriptive study of different features of pervasive healthcare in recent years. Application/Improvements: The pervasive healthcare has proved to be much useful in case of elderly people living alone or patients undergoing post-operative recovery phase. Finally, a comparative analysis table of the respective techniques has been presented.

Application on Pervasive Computing in Healthcare – A Review

The large volume of information stored in electronical health records is very valuable in the medical field, e.g., for clinical research and administrative purposes. However, health care professionals still face difficulties to recover and select relevant data. Although literature has investigated the influence of lexical, syntactical and semantic parameters in information retrieval techniques, few studies explore intentions as explicit users' actions in information recovery. This article studies means of considering intentions in search engines. We define a method with an original algorithm to properly rank search results from a set of electronical health records. This investigation relies on well-established theories to categorize several types of intentions. The proposed technique is based on knowledge representation models for annotating meanings and intentions in medical records. Achieved results are illustrated in scenarios based on real medical cases.

Intention-Based Information Retrieval of Electronic Health Records

Most web search engines use only the search keywords for searching. Due to the ambiguity of semantics and usages of the search keywords, the results are noisy and many of them do not match the user's search goals. This paper presents the design of an intelligent Search Bot, which operates as an agent for a user by simulating the user activity of filtering only the relevant search results. It learns from experience and improves its performance with time. The focus is to obtain a user's search intention or requirement from the search query, and then to deliver results accordingly. The user first trains the system according to his search intention, by doing binary classification of the search results. Training is followed by knowledge representation and extraction, and then reasoning and analyzing the new search results to determine their relevance classification. The technique is based on the construction of decision trees. It also finds application in news searching, information retrieval from databases and spam mail detection.

In this paper, we demonstrate the capability of locating mobile nodes using tower identity codes which translate to lat-long using Google's MyLocation API. Full capability can be downloaded as an app by any user and results could be verified. We believe that this capability can provide a cost-effective base to build next generation location based services for consumer purposes derived from existing tower infra. Through this paper, while discussing the concept of context reading and analyzing information by usage environment of mobile devices, we look for key application domains for exploitation of context awareness. Location Based Services (LBS) are such services which can help in tracking mobile users by taking the current position of the user into account when performing their tasks. For Location based services, map information, GIS services, GPS and infrastructures (tower identity codes) are crucial helper services. The key challenges when implementing any kind of context-aware ubiquitous services is to make a efficient mixture of descriptions, context information, user preferences, and in last, how to define new adaptation policy model so as to fit them tight as focusing on different aspects of Location based computing can be better called context analysis and services.
