TL;DR: All of the lipids had significant estimates of genetic variance; however, when genetic variance was estimated by a method designed to correct bias due to unequal total variances of MZ and DZ twins, only triglycerides had significant genetic variance.
Abstract: Fasting plasma triglycerides and cholesterol, as well as cholesterol in very low density, low density and high density lipoproteins, were measured in 250 MZ and 264 DZ adult male twin pairs. A new method was used to choose an estimate of genetic variance. This includes an estimate of genetic variance for use when the total variances of MZ and DZ twins are unequal. DZ twins had greater total variance for cholesterol. When genetic variance was estimated by subtracting the within-MZ-sets mean square from the within-DZ-sets mean square, all of the lipids had significant estimates of genetic variance; however, when genetic variance was estimated by a method designed to correct bias due to unequal total variances of MZ and DZ twins, only triglycerides had significant genetic variance. The heritability of plasma triglycerides was calculated to be 0.68.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the inequalities of the prenatal environment be assessed by an examination of the fetal blood vessels of the placenta, as a prerequisite before drawing homologies in the twin concordance studies.
Abstract: monsters, and triplets; and presence of chromosomal discordance (21) in a pair of MZ twins, lends additional support to the initial surmise that the functional demands are largely responsible for the anatomical characteristics of fetal blood vessels of the placenta. On the above basis, it is suggested that the inequalities of the prenatal environment be assessed by an examination of the fetal blood vessels of the placenta, as a prerequisite before drawing homologies in the twin concordance studies.

TL;DR: The Stroke Project in the Sacramento Medical Center has had two primary objectives: to create an atmosphere of stroke awareness by continuous feedback of relevant and reliable information to physicians who care for stroke patients, and to introduce the concept of the stroke team in daily care of the strokes patient in the hospital and beyond.
Abstract: The Stroke Project in the Sacramento Medical Center has had two primary objectives. These were: (1) to create an atmosphere of stroke awareness by continuous feedback of relevant and reliable information to physicians who care for stroke patients, and (2) to introduce the concept of the stroke team in daily care of the stroke patient in the hospital and beyond. During a period of two years 171 stroke patients were admitted to the Project. The system devised provided a useful tool in planning objectively the appropriate course of action in patient education and training programs.
